"On Sale. Grivel Top 60 Forged Piton (Fall 2007) The Top 60 Forged Piton by Grivel is hot-forged from ChroMoly steel. There are three different shapes: 160s have pointed tips to place in limestone pockets, the 162 has an offset eye to assure good camming action when the piton is loaded, and 165s have chisel-shaped points to place easily in granite cracks. The length of the piton is marked (in centimeters) near the eye so if you encounter one that's fixed you can tell something about it. Still, nothing beats a in.hammer test,in. which hopefully delivers a satisfying ringing sound. All Top pitons have the same thickness: 9/32.
