You don't understand the world's new-found fascination with obstacle courses--those are simply part of your normal workout routine. Pound weights, climb ropes, and race over hard-packed dirt in the Inov8 Men's F-Lite 240 Standard Fit Running Shoe while the rest of the world tries to catch up with you. Taking from where the 230 left off, the 240 ups the ante on your cross-fit routine while staying true to its close-fitting roots. The upper consists of lightweight breathable mesh so you don't slip and slide in a puddle of your own foot sweat. TPU laminate adds reinforcement along the side, and doubles as the durable lacing system. Unlike its predecessor, the 240 sports an injected-EVA midsole for a smoother, softer ride when scrambling through low-lying scrub or over barricades. The 6mm heel/forefoot drop isn't perfectly flat, but also isn't like wearing your girlfriend's 6-inch heels, ahem. The Precision last remains the same as in the 230, ensuring minimal foot movement inside the shoe, regardless of the angle or quality of terrain. Despite working your way down to a 6mm drop in fitness shoes, you still tend to heel strike. The Fascia Band shank maximizes your foot's ability to utilize the windlass effect, minimize your energy expenditure and maximizing energy efficiency. At it's most basic level, the windlass effect describes how your heel hits the ground, your body weight shifts from heel to toe, forcing the metatarsal joint to flex. The flexion pulls on the Fascia Band, which resists elongation, accelerating heel rise rate, and turning your arch into a rigid lever, essentially flinging you forward faster. The sticky grippy sole keeps your speedier feet stable in the gym or on the trail.
