Everest Hiking Pack

rated 3 of 5 stars Overall, this is a budget option and can carry about 30 lbs for several miles, but don't push the boundaries of the straps or bungees. The Everest Hiking Pack is a budget size hiking backpack I bought on an extremely low budget build-out for a hammock camping adventure. It's just over 2900 cu in capacity, but it doesn't have any frame to speak of except for a decent amount of padding for your back. I've done 4+ mile hikes with it where I've had 30 lbs of gear in the pack itself (pretty much maxed… Full review

Gregory Forester

rated 5 of 5 stars Used it for ten years and easily the most comfortable pack I have ever known in over 50 years of packing. I have never put a load in it which it could not carry comfortably. I have a very short torso, but fit is perfect. No problems carrying for ten hours even though I have lower back problems. I like the simplicity and the fact that it limits carrying unnecessary stuff. Only one wish is detachable pockets for those times you need them—but not often. Full review

Teton Sports Scout 3400

rated 4 of 5 stars I purchased this pack for my first 3-day, 2-night, 22-mile hike. Great pack for the money! I believe, for the money, you can't beat this pack. I have done several one-day 8 milers and one 2-night, 3-day 22 miler. I have a 5-day, 4-nighter planned and feel sure it will handle the load. My only concern is the material seems a little cheap and it may not be a long-lasting pack, but I gave $60 for it. I believe I've already got my money out of it. I would definitely recommend this pack to a beginner. Full review

Kifaru Tactical Platform Frame and Suspension

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a pack frame that you can carry anything that your legs can lift in, comfortably, whether it's an ultralight sil-nylon bag, firewood, or your friend who sprained an ankle. My configurations vary from a 2000 cubic inch day pack, rifle, and a cargo panel for meat, to a dry bag with an 8-man tipi, wood stove, and gear for me and my two kids. This pack is for those that want the ability to carry really heavy loads easily. Great for military, hunting, or all around backpacking, with the capability… Full review

Gregory Sage 35

rated 5 of 5 stars Great backpack for women! Highly recommend the medium for average height females. Tried this item on in a Gander Mountain Store. I like it. Had previously been using a spare pack that my boyfriend had, which was quite a bit large for me. I loved this, one but couldn't afford to buy it at the time. Unbeknownst to me, he went back for it a few days later and hid it for Christmas! Mine is a grey blue color and I absolutely love it! It makes a huge difference in your hike when your pack fits you right. Full review

ULA Equipment Ohm 2.0

rated 5 of 5 stars Very Light, functional, no-frills, up to 4-day pack (three days with bear canister). I highly recommend it, very comfortable with adjustable length and load lifters on top and belt. Clever bottle holder elastic loops on shoulder straps free up side pockets for more gear. My go-to pack. It fits me just fine (5'10") with the adjustable back length, load lifters, and adequate padding on belt/shoulder makes a very comfortable (and light) pack ~1# 12 oz empty. I've been on two short warm weather trips,… Full review

JanSport Cordillera 33

rated 5 of 5 stars Best backpack ever. Bought mine in the U.K. when visiting from Ecuador fall of 2002. I still use my backpack. It has been all over USA, China, Europe, Central America, South America, and more. Love to get a new one!!! Hope Janspot considers making this backpack Cordillera 33 again!! Full review

Osprey Exos 58

rated 5 of 5 stars I took this pack on the Boulder Mail Trail from Escalante, Utah, to Boulder, Utah. Three nights, lots of climbing into and out of slickrock canyons. It performed like a champ. I am in love with my Exos 58. It is perfect for multi-day trips.  I try to go light verging on ultralight. It easily swallowed my Backcountry Bed sleeping bag and my Flashlight 2 tent and a Bear Vault 500 with plenty of room for everything else. I think the tendency might be to overload this pack. It is probably best under… Full review

REI Men's Crestrail 48

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a good little pack that is perfect for filling the gap between your small overnight pack, and your week + pack. It is lightweight, and has well thought out, usable features, without the clutter of too many. I recommend this pack to anyone that needs an inexpensive mid sized pack, or wants a lightweight pack that isn't stripped of features. I'm not sure what the picture on this page is, but...... this is what my Crestrail 48 packs look like. The Crestrail 48 is the little brother of the Crestrail… Full review
