Description
The Carson is an external frame backpack made by JanSport. It has an average rating of 4.5 stars (out of 5), based on 4 user reviews.
Here's what other sites are saying:
From Campmor:
"Advantages of an external frame - easy torso adjustment, great weight transfer, cool back. Plus many advantages of an internal frame - top and panel loading, extendible lid, compressibility. Curved, extra-padded, adjustable shoulder straps contour to the body. Vector control hipbelt with diagonal stabilizer transfers pack weight to the hips. EZV buckles for precision tightening- automatically fits hips. Extendable lid pocket allows for overpacking. Hydration-ready sleeve with drinking tube exit port (hydration bladder not incl.). Panel access zippers. Three compression straps pull the pack load closer to the back and center of gravity. Compressor side pockets allow poles or long objects to be carried behind. Mesh side water bottle pockets."
From Backcountry.com:
"Whether you've been backpacking for decades and prefer the heavy-load capability of an external-frame pack or you're a novice looking for a sturdy pack that won't bust your budget, the JanSport Carson Backpack delivers. JanSport loaded the Carson with useful features from internal-frame packs yet retained the easy-to-pack, easy-to-adjust design of the external style."
From REI:
"The JanSport Carson external frame pack is full of comfort and convenience features to help you haul large loads in the backcountry. Spacious main compartment features a divider for your sleeping bag and other lightweight, bulky gear. Access your gear whichever way is most convenient: through the panel zippers or from the top. Floatable top lid offers expandable cargo space. Hydration-compatible design features an external reservoir pocket and drink tube routing for on-the-go hydration (reservoir sold separately). Mesh-backed foam in shoulder straps and back cushion provide exceptional carrying comfort. Padded hipbelt helps evenly distribute pack weight. 2 zippered side pockets and 1 zippered front stash pocket offer additional organizing options. 2 side pockets keep water bottles within easy reach. Side compression straps let you cinch down loads for jostle-free carrying. Closeout."
From Backcountry Outlet:
"The Carson Backpack is a new external frame pack loaded with some of Jansports most popular internal frame features."

im an external frame fan all the way, i dont understand why people like the internal frames??? the external frame is much more versatile for lashing gear, more rigid, and keeps the back cooler!!!! more to the point."
