Kelty Acadia 2

photo: Kelty Acadia 2 three-season tent

Great tent! Lightweight and easy to pack. I am pretty tall, 6'4" and this tent fit me great when I was lying at an angle. Very easy to set up and the rain fly did a great job of keeping my gear dry.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Roomy

Cons

  • No vent in the rainfly

After looking at several tents for my first backpacking trip I chose the Kelty Acadia 2. All the guys I was going with had chosen to go to a 2-person tent even though they sleep alone so they can have more room to move around, get dressed, etc.

I am a newbie and didn't want to spend a ton of money on a trip that I didn't know if I would ever want to do again. I'm glad I chose the Acadia 2. It is not an ultralight tent but I also didn't spend ultralight tent $. At around 4 lbs it wasn't extremely heavy and it had all the features I wanted.

I had plenty of room to keep my gear dry in the vestibule and I had plenty of room inside the tent for my clothes, sleeping bag, etc. Eventually I may upgrade to a lighter tent, but not anytime soon.

Great tents as with any product from Kelty.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Ease of setup
  • Holds up to high winds/rains

Cons

  • Not large enough for 2 men
  • Cheap aluminum stakes.

I bought several of these tents from an online vendor for my scout troop. The tent works great and allows for quick setup. We have used these tents for several outdoor trips and have not had any defects or design flaws noticed.

We did have these tents setup at camp one weekend and incurred very high winds and rain. The tents performed exceptionally. Tents are too small for two grown men and barely fit two 12-year-old boys.

Good for short time, no good for longer usage.

Kelty tent was good for few years, then rainfly became sticky and leaky. When I asked about lifetime warranty Customer Service advised me to fix tent myself.
