Kelty Discovery 6

rated 4.0 of 5 stars
photo: Kelty Discovery 6 three-season tent

Good quality tent—waterproof, light, and packs small.

Pros

  • Waterproof
  • Roomy
  • Light
  • Packs small
  • Full coverage rain fly

Cons

  • Flexes in the wind
  • Could use more stake out points

We have had this tent for about two years now and have quite a few nights in it.

It has been through two heavy thunderstorms. Both had strong winds, one with hail and another with a tornado warning. We did get a few drops of rain through the vents, but it was a lot less than I expected.

It does buckle pretty bad in the wind, even with it guyed out, but it never came down. We use it for car camping with two cots and still have room for chairs when the weather get bad.

All in all it’s been a great tent.

Background

This tent has really worked well for us. We had an older Coleman tent of the same size and it leaked every time it rained.
