Wish I had this when my wife and I backpacked every year in Kings Canyon, CA. I had switched to a long rake handle at one time, but wound up with an 84cm. ice axe. Not too useful, but comforting.
The Leki has an excellent locking mechanism, and enables one to switch from "city hills" to trail type travel in only a couple of minute. Those with a weak grip will need help getting the rubber tip off. I particularly like the "cane style" slip-proof cork handle design on this model. And its compact folding makes transporting it a breeze.
It appears that the round "city" tip will last quite a long time. Now that I'm 65, and getting "balance-challenged", it was the perfect "stabilizing" device on the steep streets of Eureka Springs, Ark last year.
You won't be disappointed with this product.
