I wanted a full brim hat and the store had this one…

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Price Paid: $20

I wanted a full brim hat and the store had this one on sale. It was the only one left. I had it several months before I actually used it. I normally just wear a cap to keep the glare off of my glasses but finally an occasion came up where I wanted a real hat so I took it with me on a kayak trip, plus hiking and working around the yard. It stayed on my head the whole time kayaking and was very comfortable. I removed it later on when I went for a walk and put a cap on but I could immediately feel the heat. The Mountain Hardwear hat was noticeably cooler.

It has a cord around the headband to make it fit just right, you can loosen or tighten it depending on your needs. It also has a chin strap that you can likewise adjust. The vents work well, I could feel the breeze when I was doing some yardwork. There seems to be a thin wire around the brim that can become kinked if you pack it wrong, a little finagling will unkink it though. It also has some snaps for the sides.

Full brim hats look kind of funny on me but this one works so well I searched the webstores thinking I got mine on sale because it was discontinued. I was surprised when I could not find it on sale. I have tried on the "tilly hats" but not being able to adjust the fit does not work for me, they just don't seem to fit right. I live in the humid south and many of the full brim hats do not have vents so that makes them unsuitable for my needs.

This hat is the most functional one I've tried so far. The only thing to watch out for is making sure the wire does not get a kink in it, it's a pain to get out. The hat seems very well made which is a good thing, I won't have to get a second one anytime soon.
