User Review: Outdoor Products Threshold Trailstar Gaiter

Summary

A good inexpensive gaiter that provides dirt and snow protection for your shoes. Water resistant to an extent.

Not wanting to spend too much money for a pair of gaiters, I was glad to find the Threshold Trailstar Gaiter.  However, inexpensive doesn't always mean quality.

While these gaiters were easy to put on, I found the zippers constantly came undone when cinched tight. I did find a way to prevent the zippers from opening and this improved the comfort and stability of the product.

These gaiters did have good adjustments points to ensure a good fit. However I did experience a failure on the bottom portion, again the zipper opened and cause the stitching to come undone. It was easily fixed but this failure caused grit and ice to enter my shoe.

Aside from the zipper, the gaiters did perform well. They were water resistant to an extent and whatever moisture that did soak in did not affect the warmth that this layer provided. I have to say, it performed well enough for deep snow and kept ice and dirt from my shoes when the zippers cooperated.

I would say that paired with mid or high boots, these gaiters would perform really well. However, if wearing trailrunners or low cut hiking shoes, I would suggest going with a different style gaiter.

For the price, this isn't so bad. The zipper failure was an easy fix and the product still worked.
