Oru Kayak Bay ST

The 2017 Oru Kayak Bay ST is light, extremely portable, easy to assemble, and strong. It is pricy, but that’s the tradeoff for its weight and portability. i purchased the Bay ST and the Beach LT from REI online for my wife and me after we inspected and sat in them at the 2017 REI Labor Day sale. I had them shipped to my local REI for pickup. Both fit inside my Toyota Prius. When I got them home, I assembled each in my backyard. The folds were pretty stiff during the first few times I assembled… Full review

Pakboats XT-15 Solo

A 15' solo folding, skin-on-frame kayak. I had been looking at Pakboats for a few years now and was tossing around my options, canoe or kayak? I live in an apartment and unless I was willing to go on a waiting list at my local canoe club for a storage spot I would most likely have to go the folding or inflatable route—carrying a canoe or kayak up 16 flights of stairs was out of the question. As I don't have a car, transporting it was also an issue, so a folding boat made the most sense. It all… Full review

Oru Kayak Bay ST

Folds up to take up very little space; is lightweight and portable (don't need a special rack on my car). Folds up to take up very little space (approximately 30" x 30" x 10"); is lightweight (~25 lbs) and portable (don't need a special rack on my car), fits inside a Ford Taurus' trunk (I have fold down seats in the back but it'll fit in a taurus without those seats too). Can be [semi-easily/inexpensively] checked on a plane! Folds out to ~25'. Tracks fairly straight in water. Can be tricky to unfold/refold… Full review

Folbot Greenland II

Seaworthy, faster than it looks, carries a boatload of cargo. And you could jump out of a helicopter with it disassembled. I live next to Lake Superior and paddle this boat solo on the lake whenever there’s open water available. (Personal record so far is an ambient air temperature of 10°F.) The first time I put it in the water, the hull speed was a pleasant surprise. My brain is incapable of imagining what it will take to capsize this boat. I have owned three canoes plus a Klepper Aerius II,… Full review

Folbot Greenland II

Through a gator-infested river in Guatemala to Belize and north to the mighty St. Lawrence river of Ontario, Canada, the Greenland II never let me down. The Greenland II design always caught my attention. In the early nineties I called Folbot in South Carolina requesting a ready to ship two seater. The kind lady on the Folbot end stated that a blue Greenland II was indeed available. Two days later, I picked up the kayak at the Miami International Airport cargo area. The fine craft arrived with me… Full review

Folbot Greenland II

Stable, easy to assemble, durable, easy to paddle. We have had the Greenland 11 at least 5 years now. We have not used as much as we would like. We find that it is difficult to find put-in areas and to find out what kind of water we are dealing with. We have had it out in the bays in Newfoundland, even in heavy wind we made good headway. We've paddled the St. John River at the height of Fredericton, NB, very successfully.  It is a pleasure to steer. We've put in above the dam and had the sail on… Full review
