Have used this hat for day hikes, backpacking and…

Rating: rated 4.5 of 5 stars

Have used this hat for day hikes, backpacking and just walking around. Good sun protection. Have not used it for water related activities. It is light and has good wicking properties for the brow. I tend to sweat a lot when hiking and the cool max sweatband seems to absorb most of the brow sweat.

I have used it hiking up the Sierra Nevadas on a hot day and it does breathe well without making one's head feel overheated. However, like all brimmed hats, the rear of the hat will hit your backpack when backpacking. This makes for a curled up rear of the hat after a long day or a long trip up the mountains, but it readily straightens up with just a smoothing of the brim.

It is somewhat fashionable looking and the perfect hat if you're not weaing a backpack. I plan to use a caped hat for my backpacking treks and use this hat for dayhikes or just casual walking.
