Hi-Tec Skamania Mid WP

ecently purchased a new pair. Within 2 weeks, the sole tore away from the body of the shoe. Purchased these shoes, as I have owned these pairs in the past.  They lasted no more than 2 months. The sole tore away from the body of the shoe. Figured it to be a manufacturing defect and the company would make good on it. I have attempted several times to reach them to see if they would replace. Crickets... not a peep from them. I never leave bad reviews without giving the company time to fix an error. Full review

Keen Pyrenees

I have had my Keen Pyrenees for 2.5 years now and used them on many multiple day walks in muddy and rocky terrain in Tasmania,I find them very comfortable and the boots are reasonably waterproof with a fairly grippy sole. I have found the Keen Pyrenees very good boots for the price as they are very comfortable with minimal wear time as I have had no blisters in the 2 years of wearing them. The leather used in the boots is of good quality with quite good water resistance and and wear abrasion. The… Full review

Jim Green African Ranger

Talk about a combat boot. This South African footwear was designed by wildlife Rangers who protect endangered African animals. This is a great light hiking boot, and would work very well on established trails such as the Pacific Crest Trail or the like. I would recommend this product for anyone who wants a sturdy hiking boot. The African Ranger boots arrived just in time for my nightly two-mile dog walk. I laced them up and off we went. I had been intrigued by the Jim Green African Ranger boots… Full review

Hanwag Ancash II GTX

I'm reviewing the Hanwag Ancash II GTX which are Gore-Tex lined boots, and in their straight fit extra fitting. I got these to replace my 1 year old Altberg Kisdon boots as the tread has worn down and are now slippy in the mud. Not worth getting re-soled as although still waterproof they have a couple splits developing one external by my toe bend and one internal back of the heel. Fit: plenty of toe room either side of the big toes and little toes and good volume. They feel similar in fit to my… Full review

Hi-Tec Ravus Vent Mid WP

Affordable, but you get what you pay for I bought these as my first hiking boot last year when deciding to start doing long distance hikes through more technical terrain, I wanted an inexpensive option to start with while deciding if long distance hiking was for me.   I made the rookie error of trusting the size and bought online without trying them on and worked out quickly they run a little small (UK 10) and also somewhat narrow and while most of the time they were fine on occasions, when my… Full review

Scarpa Terra GTX

Can't think of any reason not to give these boots 5 stars. These are a lightweight backpacking boot. Admittedly, I haven't used them as much as my SLs  because I've been overweight and needed the extra support with a backpack. I'm a lot slimmer now and using the Terras and have to say, I love them! They are everything my SLs are but lighter and more nimble on the trail. Barring a 40+ pound. pack, these are my go-to boots now. I really love walking in them. Just this morning I was off trail bushwhacking… Full review

Ozark Trail Hikers

These boots are ok until they are not. Mine had the sole come loose on BOTH boots.  This never happens at home when you put the boots on.  First thing is you notice a sound like someone is following you...it gets worse and then you may stumble if the sole peels way back.  I had Rocky Boots do the same thing.  From now on I will never buy a pair of boots without the sole STITCHED on. Keen Pyrenees

The first pair I had lasted 4 years. The second pair didn't last 6 months. Full review

Hoka Kaha GTX

Huge chunk of the sole fell off after very light use. Only support is to mail them back at my cost to be evaluated - either spend another chunk of money to be without hiking boots for a month or bite the bullet and buy a pair from a manufacturer with better build quality and customer support.
