Wow- I can't tell you how great this boot has been to me. It takes a few blisters before it gets its "slipper-like" feel. The sole (i love) is very aggresive, and it is little--way stiched. I have scrabbled down a steep rock face with 50lb pack with no worries. The boot treated me well on my 30 day Idaho/Oregon NOLS trip. Nary a blister on my 90+ mile Georgia AT hike. The boot is highly waterproof and extremely breathable.
The shoe is more expensive than Merrell or Vasque. But it is the only boot you'll ever buy (if you take care of your boot- your boot will take care of you!). By the time you wear out 2 pairs of Alpha's or Clarions you could have bought yourselve perhaps the best boot around. I have wanted to buy a Norwegian Welted Fabiano, but don't think i'll ever wear my SL's out. Oh well, i guess i'll have fun trying.
