Scarpa Solo

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

The Solo has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2024.

Version reviewed: 1999

Great boot. They are really comfortable and feel almost like a second skin after they are broken in. I do have one minor complaint, and that is that Scarpa included round shoelaces in the box. Round shoelaces tend to loosen up in the bush, but this can be solved by just buying some new shoelaces.

Materials: all leather
Use: rough trail and bushwalking
Break-in Period: 5 days
Price Paid: $210 AUD

A good boot for the weekend walker is good on some extended walking (eg. a week) but not realy a heavy boot. Manufacturers claim it is trekking boot but I am inclined to disagree.

Materials: Leather
Use: rough trail, not to heavy pack
Break-in Period: 1 week
Weight: 1.2 kg
Price Paid: AUD $180
