User Review: Scarpa Sphinx

Scarpa Sphinx
Above: The current Sphinx, which may differ slightly from the version reviewed.

Rating: rated 3 of 5 stars
Materials: Leather, Vibram sole
Use: short sport routes
Break-in Period: ages
Weight: heavy because of the vibram
Price Paid: 70 pounds

I found these boots fantastic for giving me that extra 'edge' on harder routes. However, they were utter agony and contorted my poor feet into the most un-natural state. Some say this is necessary for a technical boot but I was literally crying after doing a short second pitch after standing about belaying my leader from a small ledge in the blazing sun (feet swelled). So if you can stand the agony and the deformed feet they are a brilliant shoe, as for me I can't!
