Here's what other sites are saying:
From RockCreek:
"The Suunto X3HR is the companion for the active outdoorsperson. It integrates an altimeter function with a heart rate monitor - to keep a pulse on you and your environment. This unique combo lets you get the most out of your outdoor workouts. The altimeter monitors terrain variations during running, triathlon training, hiking, and mountain or road biking. Weather functions allow you to predict weather changes and plan accordingly. The heart rate monitor gives comprehensive feedback on your performance. The smaller overall size is ideal for men and women who don't like oversized watches and/or have smaller wrists. The X3HR will help you monitor and analyze your training sessions. The heart rate monitor component displays average heart rate in real-time throughout your workout, allowing you to accurately manage your performance. The stand-out feature on this watch is the graphic heart rate display. While other monitors simply show (numerically) high, low, and current heart rates, the X3HR charts the data; providing you with a quick and complete visual of your performance. The display constantly shows your current heart rate and target zone - a great way to control intensity. (Note: this advanced feature is only available on the X3HR - the X6HR doesn't have it.) Interval timers let you circuit-train with precision and intensity. Post-performance, data is stored on your training duration, average, minimum and maximum heart rate, ascent and descent levels, and peak and valley altitudes of your training session. Stores up to 10 split times (with the corresponding heart rate) and up to 10 separate training sessions. As with other Suunto altimeter watches, you can log your altitude gains and losses. For example, you can see how many vertical feet you skied in a day. Bottom line: The X3HR integrates a variety of basic and advanced features into an affordable wristop computer for those with an active lifestyle who want to monitor and improve their training performance."

"Suunto X3HR combines the benefits of an altimeter and a HRM with graphic heart rate display--a nice training partner for cyclists and mountaineers. Other monitors simply show (numerically) high, low and current heart rates; X3HR charts the data, giving a quick, complete visual of your performance. For post-performance assessment, the X3HR stores data on training duration, and average, minimum and maximum heart rate. Also stores cumulative ascent and descent and the highest and lowest altitude in the training session. Unit stores up to 10 laps and the heart rate for each training session, and memorizes the data regarding the last 8 training sessions. Altimeter function displays in meters or feet, -500m to 9000m (-1,600 ft. to 29,995 ft.) in 1meter (3 ft.) resolution. The heart rate monitor works well when running at moderate speed; it served well in a 15km race. I haven't yet checked it for soccer practice."
