Summary

I looked at both the Fairydown and Macpac alternatives, but this had a better detachable daypack. Twenty years later I'm still really happy with it.

Cons

  • No longer available

Fairydown eventually bought Tika, and so that was the end of that :(

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Design: Internal Frame Treking Pac
Size: 90 liters
Number of Pockets: 3
Max. Load Carried: 40kg
Height of Owner: 183cm
Price Paid: nz Dollars $450

This pac has been brilliant with a fully adjustable zip away harness, zip off 15 litre daypac, everybody raves about Macpacs in New Zealand without looking at the alternatives. My mate bought a Genesis and it has not been as rugged as my Cardrona.

After 3 months in Africa my bag was still in good shape whereas his had lost a couple of straps and the waist strap buckle had broken.
