I bought these tights as well as the top for a week long winter backpacking trip. It was well worth the money, and I will be buying a spare set for keeping dry for wear after a long day's hike. Yes, the fit is a bit tight, but these are compression garments. The tighter the fit, the warmer you are in cold weather.

Also, I didn't find them itchy in the ankle/lower leg like I find with mid-weight long johns. They were slightly long on me, but I also ordered the large (after reading the other reviews). I just folded them a bit and was good to go (my hiking socks/boots did enough constricting on their own!).

* Gift: No
* Waist: Feels true to size
* Inseam: Feels true to length
* Gear Usage: Backpacking

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

WHY WE MADE IT: Athletes generate most of their power in their legs. Power that takes a serious hit when leg muscles get cold. UA ColdGear(R) Leggings keep your legs warm and dry when you're cranking out high-intensity workouts. Don't just go out in the cold. Go out and own the workout that dragged you outside in the first place. Women's ColdGear(R) Frosty Compression Tights trap your body's heat under a layer of soft, brushed doubled-sided fabric. And they wick away sweat that would otherwise chill you. Ideal for cross-training or running in the coldest cold, you'll stay warmer in compression leggings that keep your legs feeling fresher and stronger. And with flatlock seams, you'll be free of chafing. All of which will give you the power to push it a little further when you're out in the cold.
