With competing integrated canister stoves from MSR and Primus hitting stores this spring, stove manufacturer Jetboil is focusing on moving its message beyond the ability to boil water and into the realm of true backcountry cooking. To that end, the company recently announced a number of accessories, available this spring, designed to make their stoves easier to use.

Hanging Kit

Since its introduction, the Jetboil Personal Cooking System (PCS) has been a favorite among mountaineers and big wall climbers. The introduction of the Jetboil Hanging Kit is likely to enhance that reputation, providing an easy and secure way to use either the Jetboil PCS or GCS in a hanging configuration.

Three aluminum bars, hung by cables from a central anchor point, attach securely to the Jetboil PCS or Group Cooking System (GCS) burner, providing a stable hanging base that allows for quick and easy attachment and removal of pots and pans. The Hanging Kit is compatible with the Jetboil PCS, GCS, and Fry Pan.

Fry Pan

In our recent review of integrated canister stoves, we found that the Jetboil Group Cooking System (GCS) was the best suited to backcountry cooking that involved more than just boiling water. Well, the folks at Jetboil seem to agree, and to that end they’ve introduced a line of culinary accessories for their stoves.

Most notable is the FluxRing Fry Pan, a frying pan that features Jetboil’s signature heat exchanger, plus a heavier-grade hard-anodized aluminum construction for more even heat distribution than you get from the GCS pot. The FluxRing Fry Pan is also compatible with the Jetboil PCS, with the use of the pot support and stabilizer kit.

Weight: 10 ounces
MSRP: $49.95

Utensil Kits

Jetboil is also introducing two utensil kits, each designed specifically to complement Jetboil pots and pans.

The Cargo Cozy Kit includes a thermoplastic spoon and fork, with retractable handles that reduce in length for storage. You can pack your favorite, take both, or save weight by sharing a handle. The kit also includes a pot cozy that allows you to store the utensils on the side of the PCS. The spoon’s shape mirrors the side and corner contours of the PCS – so it literally spoons the pot. Extended, the utensils are long enough (8.5 inches) to be used comfortably with a PCS without falling in.

The Jetset Utensil Kit combines the same fork and spoon with a flexible spatula. One corner of the spatula is shaped to follow the contour of the Fry Pan for easy flipping and clean up, and the other corner matches the GCS for the same benefits. A telescoping handle allows for stowage inside the FluxRing of the GCS pot or Fry Pan. The spatula also has a knife-edge for cutting, slots for draining, and uses the same handle as the other utensils, allowing you to share a handle to save weight.
