Mountain Assault

rated 5 of 5 stars Great boots, sturdy support, water tight! Take a beating and still look good! I have had these boots for about four years. They have held up very well under rough use. They compare to some of the Lowa boots I have (Tibet, Hunter Evo, Baffin Pro, etc). The toe box seemed low volume in a 14EE but broke in nicely with a little use. Love them for hiking, hunting, and woods play in cool or wet weather. Awesome with a big pack, very sturdy. With good socks good to freezing or below if active. Would buy… Full review

Mountain Light II

rated 1 of 5 stars The heel cup can cause severe problems. My first pair of MLIIs (vintage early 1990s) never gave me a problem and I wore them out, so I recently bought a new pair directly from the Danner store in Portland, where they're made. After about 150 miles, they began to cause painful agony and I can no longer wear them. The internal heel cup inside the liner digs into the back of my left, outside ankle bone making every step extremely painful. The plastic cup is now thicker, higher and harder than in the… Full review

Mountain Light II

rated 2 of 5 stars Most uncomfortable boot I ever owned. I am 70 years old and have been hiking most of my life. I bought these boots for a hiking trip to New Zealand.  I heard these were a premier hiking boot and are waterproof. I have put 60 miles on them and they are still stiff and clunky. The heel pocket is too loose and the toe box is tight. It is difficult to get the laces tight enough around the ankle, so you don't get enough support.   Full review

Mountain Assault

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Sturdy, bulit like a tank, comfortable, supportive, little too heavy. I've tried other Danner boots and these are the most comfortable. I've tried Hiker 453 and Radical 452. They were nice, but their footbeds seemed just flat and therefore were not cushy enough for me. I am about 50 years old and I need some padding under my feet. Mountain Assaults use DHL 01 footbed which is anatomically shaped, and I can definitely feel the difference between these and some cheaper boots where no effort is made… Full review

Light II

rated 2 of 5 stars The exterior quality and construction is outstanding. However...the Gore-tex membrane inside the boot is sloppily fit and loose, causing it to bunch, which causes friction points, especially with the tight toe box. I found the boot to be well constructed, durable, good looking, and difficult to wear with anything thicker than a liner or thin dress sock. The reason? A confining toe box, combined with a loosely fit Gore-tex membrane/liner, would cause severe rubbing and hotspots on the tops of my… Full review
