Great stove. Versatile, handy, packable, and durable! Get one now!

Pros

  • Takes some abuse
  • Handles all kinds of fuel
  • Good for a small fire in the wind and is sturdy for handling all kinds of cookware.

Cons

  • About a pound in weight
  • Edges are sharp; Be careful

This stove is fantastic. My son and I both carry one and we love them. He started using his when he was 12 years old and does great with it. We both just have the steel version to keep the cost down and we use them for all sorts of things with fire. We backpack with them, cook streamside lunch on our fishing trips, we take them hunting to cook a hot meal on cold PA hunting trips and to get a little heat to boost morale. We have used them to heat up pine pitch to make fatwood, and practice our fire-making techniques.

The stove comes with a plastic/canvas-like sleeve but it doesn't hold up a long time. Ours are orange with a clear plastic side that snaps closed. I made a sleeve out of old blue jeans and it is more durable and keeps the soot contained and off my gear when in my pack.

The steel version of the stove weighs about a pound, but it packs down flat and takes up barely any space. I don't mind carrying the pound b/c the stove is really useful and versatile. You end up carrying not much less weight with a PocketRocket when you add in the fuel canister you have to carry.

The Emberlit stove is really durable and stable to use. It holds big pots and pans easily, as long as you can get it on a somewhat flat surface, just like almost any stove. The fire is small and totally contained so when you can't or don't want to make a campfire, the Emberlit is a good option. It uses very little fuel, burns all kinds of fuel, and produces good heat. It boils water in just a few minutes and you can add sticks from the top or the bottom. It burns efficiently and effectively. It has good airflow and you have a decent fire in no time.

Be careful when putting it together and taking it apart because the edges can cut you. The stove comes with a plastic coating on the pieces that you need to peel off before use. It is easy to assemble and disassemble and takes only a minute to do either. Once you use it, it will show discoloration from the metal heating up, but that is natural. It cools off quickly and cleans up easily.

There is a titanium version if you want to cut weight, but I haven't used that one before so I can't vouch for it.

Emberlit is a small company and they have been good to deal with. The shipping was fast and they run sales at times through the year if you want to save a few bucks.

This is an awesome stove! No regrets, despite the weight!

Pros

  • Able to use any size pot, pan, cup, etc. with the crossbars installed
  • Built for a lifetime of use
  • Easy to feed and maintain your fire
  • Stores flat and fits easily in your rucksack

Cons

  • Heavy (but not really a con, considering all the benefits)

I bought this stove because I like the idea of the feeder hole, and the fact that I can use long sticks with minimal processing to keep this stove cooking, unlike others that take only tiny sticks and taking a chance of burning ones fingers while stoking the fire.

This is an excellent choice, and made extremely well. It is a bit heavier than I expected, but it is very high quality and will last many, many years if not longer. I was on a budget, or I would have ordered the titanium version.  I may still in the future, but for now I am well pleased and have no regrets.

Great design and very durable. Burns extremely well and very clean and thorough. I love how flat it stores, it is so easy to carry in your rucksack.
