Patagonia Men's Re-Tool Snap-T Pullover

rated 5 of 5 stars This is the most amazing product Patagonia has ever made. So soft, so cozy, so durable, so perfect. Girl-friends, friends of mine that are girls, have worn this fleece and I've wanted one for years.  I almost bought a women's one just because it's that amazing and they didn't make a mens version.  Well finally Patagonia did something, put out a mens style. It fits so well, not too tight, but not baggy and sloppy like those synchilla sacks.   It says fluffy and soft, unlike those synchilla sacks… Full review

Houdini Men's Alpha Houdi

rated 5 of 5 stars Houdini calls it a base layer, but this super lightweight, hoodie style fleece works well in many applications. Top, bottom, or middle it breathes and wicks making it great for active layering. The Houdini Alpha Houdi is a full zip fleece with a form fitting hood, but despite that description and what you might see at first glance, this is not your average "hoodie". Specs: 12.7oz/359g on my scale 100% Japanese origin EcoCircle Alpha Base Polyester Made in Poland Fit & Comfort: Described by the… Full review

Mountain Equipment Men's Eclipse Hooded Zip Tee

rated 5 of 5 stars Best fleece ever made for winter climbing. I had to get this fleece after using my fried's on a on a climbing trip. The fleece has a snug athletic fit. The fabric transports sweat away from the body well. After using it on several trips I am impressed with it. The hood is thin, but adds the needed warmth to the neck when the chilling wind tortures you while belaying. The hood feels OK under a climbing helmet and follows the head nice.  Full review

REI Men's Quarter-Zip Fleece Pullover

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This light fleece pullover is great for both cool evenings at camp and as a "sleep shirt" on cool nights. I bought this light fleece pullover on the recommendation in a thread at Backpacking Light and was very happy that the pullover was exactly "as advertised" by the poster.  On a trip to Hidden Forest in Nevada's Desert Wildlife Refuge in mid May we camped at 8,000 feet. The evening was windy and cool so I needed this fleece over my long sleeved polyester shirt and  under my GTX PacLite parka. Full review

Patagonia Men's R1 Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars The most versatile mid-layer I own. I wear this as one of my layers in the coldest temperatures all the way through stuffing in my day pack and putting it on for stops on cool spring or fall hikes. Patagonia thought hard about what hikers and climbers need when they designed this mid-layer. Only downside is that the technical nature of it makes it less appealing for wearing it in town. THE BASICS The Patagonia R1 Hoody might be my favorite piece of trail clothing. It's a mid-layer in the winter,… Full review

Marmot Alpinist Half Zip

rated 4 of 5 stars Good fit, small pocket. I just received my (medium) Alpinist Half Zip so this will be on fit. I'm 5'10" 160lbs. 15 1/2" neck. First, like another reviewer stated, the pocket is small. I can barely fit my Kyocera Brigadier phone, so I will be using it for snacks and power gels for hiking. The arm length covers my knuckles perfectly when using the thumb holes. Good fit around neck. Took my dog for a 10 minute walk with a T-shirt underneath. It is 38 degrees with 7-10 mph wind. I felt the cold on my… Full review

Patagonia Men's R1 Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars The R1 Hoody works better as a base-layer than a mid-layer. It has a good combination of warmth and ventilation. Polygiene odor control really works. Touted as a mid-layer, I found the Patagonia R1 Hoody to work much better for me as a first layer or strictly worn by itself. The Polartec Power grid fabric that provides both the hoody's warmth and ventilation also makes it difficult to put on over a first layer. The waffle patterned fabric would get hung up on my t-shirt regardless of the t-shirts… Full review

Patagonia Men's R1 Hoody

rated 3 of 5 stars Great looking and delivers the goods when active, but has limited applications. Like most everyone here I try to do as much research as I can before spending a few bucks on a technical piece of gear. I did that with the Pat. R1 and kept reading about how it's a "favorite" and serves a lot of functions. Unfortunately, my experience has been different. It still comes along with me on most trips, but I think I could have spent my money better. The R1 is very well made. The fit is right on the money… Full review

Patagonia Men's Better Sweater 1/4-Zip

rated 2 of 5 stars Durable, fits well, warm. Fits awkwardly—bunches in the armpits and creates muffin top illusion. Fabric loses softness and gets sort of rough after multiple washes. It also pills quickly making the sweater look raggedy just after a couple wears.  Very warm, great to layer with though the pullover is awkward to take on and off. Would recommend the full zip over the 1/4 zip. Very durable to tears and snags. Breast pocket is nice to hold a card or bit of cash, but kind of useless overall.   Full review
