Mountain House Beef Stroganoff

rated 4 of 5 stars I admit to having limited experience with backpacking type foods, but I purchased this product and one of a different brand and was amazed at the difference in the two. Mountain House (MH) was by far a better product in both taste and appearance. This product would easily be a satisfying meal on the trail or in the bunker and I would recommend MH as the go to for anyone who loves Beef Stroganoff. I purchased this product and one of a different brand and was amazed at the difference in the two. The… Full review

Good To-Go Herbed Mushroom Risotto

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a fresh, healthy, and tasty alternative to the every growing line of pre-packaged backpacker meals. While the recommended re-hydration period is quite a bit longer than other similar products, my sample of the Risotto did not take as long to re-hydrate as the other two meals. I would highly recommend this product for those looking specifically for an all-natural, vegetarian, gluten-free option. A note: I’ve included some of the same commentary for all three Good To Go reviews: Smoked… Full review

ProBar Superfood Slam Bar

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Fat, carbs, fiber, AND protein? Sign me up for a great meal on the go: urban, backcountry, and everywhere in between. These bars are pretty simple, so I'll try to keep the review the same way. ProBar Meal bars are just that: a meal in a pouch. The mix of (mostly organic) nuts, fruits, and grains make for a filling, sweet main course that is easily rounded out with a salty side snack for palette balance. That is really my only gripe with these. Though the ingredients are all natural, the sweetness… Full review

TurboPUP Complete K9 Meal Bar

rated 5 of 5 stars TurboPUP bars are nutrient dense meal bars that can be used to feed your furry friend on backpacking trips, day hikes, while traveling, or any other time. The bars offer complete K9 nutrition for short or long term feeding. During a last-minute rush of shopping before leaving for a weeklong trip to New Hampshire's White Mountains, I stumbled onto Backcountry K9.com. Since my dog Pickle would be backpacking with me for three days of this trip, I wanted to see if there was any new dog gear worth trying. Full review

Kind Fruit & Nut Bar

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The best way to think about this is as a trail mix in bar form. Nice amount of calories for the weight of the bar. A little sticky so watch your hands, but chewy and you can really taste the fruit and nuts. Has that "all natural" taste as it's advertised, which may be considered a bit bland to some. I think it's a great trail snack and everything in between. I’ve seen these around, but have only recently tried one. They’re available in warehouse clubs as well as local grocery stores. I’m always… Full review

Good To-Go Thai Curry

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This is a fresh, healthy and tasty alternative to the every growing line of pre-packaged backpacker meals. The taste and ingredient list are excellent but the re hydration period is quite a bit longer than other similar products. I would highly recommend this product for those looking specifically for an all-natural, gluten-free option. And since I'm a huge fan of Thai food, this is a well-received addition to my outdoors kit. A note: I’ve included some of the same commentary for all three Good… Full review

Good To-Go Smoked Three Bean Chili

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This is a fresh, healthy and tasty alternative to the every growing line of pre-packaged backpacker meals. The taste and ingredient list are excellent but the re-hydration period is quite a bit longer than other similar products. I would highly recommend this product for those looking specifically for vegetarian and gluten-free options. A note: I’ve included some of the same commentary for all three Good To Go reviews—Smoked Three Bean Chili, Thai Curry, and Herbed Mushroom Risotto. For particulars… Full review

Mountain House Chicken Teriyaki with Rice Pro-Pak

rated 2.5 of 5 stars A quick and filling meal for a backpacking adventure. Could be a little tastier My son and I took this item on a backpacking adventure to use as our dinner. I like the fact that the item is vacuum packed and dried so it weighs almost nothing. It uses boiling water to re-hydrate and prepare so that makes it a snap. It was a simple process to prepare this meal and I was looking forward to it. However, when I opened the packaging it was LOADED with RED PEPPERS!!! Why is it that manufactures insist… Full review

Backpacker's Pantry Organic Peanut Butter & Raisin Oatmeal

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a great backpacking meal that is quick to prepare, high in essential calories, and tastes great! I bought this for a recent backpacking/canoe trip that I was going on. It was very easy to prepare and tasted great. I especially like that you don't need another bowl to prepare this meal. Just heat up water to a boil and then add it to the pouch. It filled me up and gave me plenty of energy to finish my canoe trip (10+ miles). It comes with a pouch of peanuts that you are supposed to crush… Full review
