Clif Berry Pomegranate Chia Bar

rated 2.5 of 5 stars A new flavor from Clif, the Berry Pomegranate Chia bar is an exciting addition to the Clif bar line. The flavor and consistency is very much the same as the other bars in their line, which unfortunately falls short of the exciting flavor it should be. Like most Clif Bars, it is very sweet with the typical brown sugar taste. Clif Bar & Company is an American company that produces organic foods and drinks. The company's flagship product, CLIF Bar, was created by Gary Erickson. The company is based… Full review

Clif Chocolate Chip Bar

rated 5 of 5 stars This is my favorite Clif bar. I don't know much about other brand bars, but I haven't found a Clif bar that I didn't like. The Chocalate Chip Bar is my favorite. I take a few of these on kayak trips and everybody that I've given them to likes them also. From what I've read Clif seems like a cool company too. Full review

Clif Builder's Chocolate Mint Bar

rated 3 of 5 stars For less demanding pursuits, this is a good-tasting bar. For its intended purposes (post-workout boost), it didn't hit the mark. I purchased a few of the Clif Builder's mainly because my wife likes chocolate while on the trail and I like convenient snacks. This was an easy way to meet both our desires. It is important to note that Clif really touts this as a post-workout protein bar, so my wife and I tried them on two separate occasions. Once as a trail snack during an easy-going hike and again… Full review

Ally's Bar Original Sweet Potato

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Tired of nutrition bars that taste the same as the last one?? This is a tasty and very healthy alternative. Ally Stacher is a Northern California native, who is a cyclist with the Specialized/Lululemon women's pro cycling team. She has become known as the nutrition guru for the team, and is always making healthy things to share with her fellow riders. One of these things is a energy bar made with sweet potatoes and dates, which was a big hit in the team, and Ally's Bar was born. Some of us have… Full review

Nuun Hydration Tablets

rated 5 of 5 stars Nuun Active has become my all-season, all activity, go-to electrolyte drink. I picked up my first tube of Nuun this summer after being drawn to the aestethically pleasing packaging and the myriad of flavors to choose from. I picked up strawberry lemonade and fruit punch and used them that same day. A little backstory: I have been searching for an electrolyte replacer for awhile as I can't stomach any of the pre-made sugar ladened drinks on the market (I get terrible acid reflux from them and it… Full review

Clif Sierra Trail Mix Bar

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Simply put, it's trail mix in bar form. A hearty supply of peanuts (and peanut butter), yummy chocolate bits, a mix of seeds (pumpkin and sunflower) and raisins — although it's a little light on the raisins. This bar reminds me of the bag of trail mix that my mother used to pack for me before I went out camping/hiking as a kid with my older brothers. It has the peanuts, the chocolate chunks, the raisins, the seeds and even the sea salt (which imitates the flavors of the pretzels that my mom would… Full review

Mountain House Mexican Style Rice and Chicken

rated 3 of 5 stars This Mountain House entrée offers the backcountry backpacker convenience and calories in 8-9 minutes—just add water for a ready-made meal—but its seasoning lacks zest or kick and its significant rice content will make big appetites yearn for more a few hours after eating. Note: This is a review of the Mountain House Mexican Style Rice & Chicken, a 5.5 oz/153g meal that comes in a blue plastic and foil pouch familiar to many campers and backpackers. Overview Oregon Freeze Dry, Inc. produces… Full review

Cave Man Dark Chocolate Almond Coconut Bar

rated 4 of 5 stars Wooyah gomunu khoiyo wuluwulu wayah komoyu sziliya wadah! (Translation from the Neanderthal: A tasty bar that will keep you going on the hunt!) Our part-time trail buddy and part-time trail angel Pennie picked up a couple of these for me for the Kearsarge Pass resupply on the JMT. Why me? Because I have the unusual habit of making exclamations and proclamations, and sometimes even telling feature-length stories in fluent Neanderthal. I added it to my bar ration for the day after resupply and gobbled… Full review

Crown Prince Sardines in Spring Water

rated 4 of 5 stars Great used as a mix-in protein source in meals or for snacking right out of the bag. Single serving portion in an easy to open bag. Worth their weight for day hikers, climbers, or those on longer trails and especially so for those looking to add fat and protein to their diet. Crown Prince is pretty well known for their canned sardines, but they recently came out with several varieties sold in easy to open pouches. They can be somewhat hard to find as not all grocery stores carry them, but they are… Full review
