Vermont Smoke and Cure Real Sticks

rated 4.5 of 5 stars A healthy, responsible product from a cool company that, with a little tweaking could be great. Vermont Smoke and Cure Pepperoni I admit that I dearly love pepperoni, a little too much. Many were the times when I have brought home pepperoni as a treat to the clones to have half of it disappear on the drive. I have made my own sausage my whole adult life and appreciate good ingredients and flavor. So naturally I was stoked that someone wanted me to give their product a testing. Probably the coolest… Full review

Backpacker's Pantry Cheddar Cheese Spread

rated 4 of 5 stars It's not bad if you've had MRE's before. I've eaten enough MRE's in my last job to know that this stuff actually isn't that bad. It's saved a meal or two because they've tasted so crappy from the beginning. Heat it up with the main entrée, such as spaghetti, and add some to it and you've got a bangin meal. Full review

Mountain House Scrambled Eggs with Bacon

rated 2 of 5 stars They're dried eggs! They serve the purpose of nutrition. Life can be iffy. These meals are the Iffy busters. I bought this single serving Mountain House Freeze Dried Scrambled Eggs with Bacon while browsing in my local Walmart, down the camping aisle. Since I was going to be taking a trip up to the mountains, I thought it would be nice to try. I'm not a big fan of powdered eggs and some freeze dried meals, this was my opportunity to sample the eggs with bacon. Not Bad. Great for camping or emergencies. Full review

AlpineAire Foods Mesquite BBQ Seasoned Chicken with Beans & Rice

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Too salty and acidic. This product has good amount of meat and rice for a meal for a hungry man or couple of not-so-hungry people. But, it is too salty and too acidic so consuming it is a torture. I had to finish it anyway to have enough energy for an intense hike however it back-lashed with unusual thirst. Color of the product is questionable — bright brown-red, does not look natural, though the product does not pretend to be natural. Full review

GU Roctane Ultra Endurance Energy Gel

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Although I'm not an energy gel enthusiast, these gels did a fine job at giving me a little boost when needed. The flavors were pleasing and the texture was thick, but very easy to manage. I've tried two different flavors during two different pursuits. The first being a 5.5 mile city run in hot weather (and I haven't run in a looong time), the second being a 5 mile hike on muddy hilly terrain.  The energy gels were given to me by a GU representative at an urban 5.5-mile race that my brother-in-law… Full review

Clif Shot

rated 4 of 5 stars I love these Clif Gels! They are amazing for cardio. I should warn you not to consume the Double Espresso Gels or any others that contain 100 mg of Caffeine less than 6 hours before bedtime. I love these Clif Gels! They are amazing for cardio. I should warn you not to consume the Double Espresso Gels or any others that contain 100 mg of caffeine less than 6 hours before bedtime. I took one last night around 5:45 pm, went to bed around 10:30, and woke up at 1:30 in the morning soaked and cold from… Full review

Clif Blueberry Crisp Bar

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Energy bars come in all different taste, textures and types. There are activity bars, meal replacement bars, protein bars, endurance bars and organic bars. All of these bars give energy according to the ingredients and the activity you want to perform. Do you eat Clif Bars??? Why or Why not. Clif Blueberry Crisp energy bar is light and crunchy blend of rye, oat and barley and real blueberries. The only thing missing is the sweet smell of blueberry crisp baking in the oven. In my opinion, no food… Full review

Mountain House Chicken Teriyaki with Rice

rated 3 of 5 stars This was not a very tasty entrée. I've had much better. I wouldn't recommend this product. The seasoning did not mix well. This resulted in clumps of seasoning and a very poor taste. I wouldn't have guessed it was 'teriyaki' in a blind taste test, I just would have guessed it was chicken and sauce. The portion was good. It was filling and thick and hearty. I won't be buying this one again. I've had other freeze dried meals that tasted good, so this one won't make it back into my menu. Full review

Backpacker's Pantry Pad See You with Chicken

rated 5 of 5 stars For a dehydrated meal, this is one of the best ones I have had. I took my girlfriend backpacking for the first time and warned her about dehydrated food. The Pad See You with Chicken was the first meal we ate, and she was very pleasantly surprised by how good it was.  She was a little disappointed by the rest of the meals after we ate the best one first.   This meal is also gluten free, which is good for us, because she is on a gluten free diet.   The Pad See You with Chicken was by far the best… Full review
