Mammut's Goblin Rock Shoe Takes BIG Award

Mammut, the Swiss quality provider of alpine gear and apparel, will be recognized by Rock & Ice magazine’s inaugural Best In Gear (BIG) awards, winning accolades for the Goblin rock climbing shoe. The Goblin is an all-around performance rock climbing shoe that debuted in the spring of 2006, alongside the Karma and Shogun in an all-new rock shoe line-up for the Mammut brand. The BIG awards will appear in the Rock & Ice annual Gear and Safety Guide, on stands as of February 22nd, 2007.

The Goblin was tested by the Rock & Ice editorial staff and chosen from an extensive selection of performance climbing shoes. According to the BIG testers, “This is Mammut's best shoe to date, and by miles, and ranks alongside any top-shelf steep-rock sport or bouldering model. The synthetic-leather Goblin has a powerful toe that can milk micro dinks and has a stable inside and outside edges that work great on vertical chips”.

The Goblin is available this climbing season for $99 at specialty retailers nationwide, as are the Shogun lace-up and Karma sport climbing competition shoe. The entire Mammut rock shoe line was completely redesigned for optimal fit and performance. The Goblin meets those demands as a comfortable, sensitive sport climbing and bouldering shoe, featuring a slightly curved last shape for precise foot placements. A stretch-to-fit toe box conforms to the climber’s foot while a lined synthetic leather reduces excessive stretch to retain a performance fit.
