Sea to Summit Grasshopper Gaiter

Overall good quality gaiters to keep the rain out of your boots and protect the legs from scratches and snake bite. Have put these gaiters through their paces on a couple of tough hikes including the short but very challenging Devil’s Peak. They are easily adjustable, front opening hook and loop is very strong and will not come undone and once properly adjusted stay in place without moving around or sliding down your legs with help from some elastic just below the knee and draw cord at the top. Black Diamond FrontPoint Gaiter

A well-made, tough gaiter, but too low on the calf for comfortable, all-day, all-around use. My wife gave these to me as a Christmas present a couple years ago to replace my ca. 30-year-old OR Crocodile gaiters, which I have repaired more times and ways than I can count, including full Velcro replacement at least once. On Scarpa Charmoz mountaineeering boots I had an ‘aha’ moment when I went to look at the specs for these gaiters on the BD website and found out that they are specifically targeted… Full review

Kahtoola RENAgaiter Mid

Kahtoola, long known for traction devices and a line of gaiters, came out with the RENAgaiter Mid and Low models for folks looking for lower weight and more comfort, but designed to be rugged and water resistant without getting in the way. Good for three-season use, especially drier climates and open trails.   . Hiking in New England I've always preferred to wear gaiters, often using heavy, stiff, knee-high, winter-style gaiters even in the summer. Given the chance to try out Kahtoola's RENAgaiter… Full review

Dirty Girl Gaiter

Poor warranty service and defect in color dye on the material. Don't expect any help with warranty issues. My pair with vibrant colors started fading in large spots after 6 day hikes. They called it normal wear and tear. Excuse me—it was obviously a fabric defect that they wouldn't admit to.   Full review

Black Diamond FrontPoint Gaiter

First hike in 12-inch snow with the gaiters. Kept snow out of boots, pants legs dry, and never knew I had them on. In all, comfortable.    Ok, so this was my first hike with these gaiters And despite a bit of a wrestle to get them fitted properly, once on they were comfortable. The picture shows a size large fitted on a pair of LOWA LL boots.  I wore them for a three-hour hike in deep snow with temps hovering around 30°f-33°f. I had no snow entering my boot and no slush got my pants wet. They… Full review

Amundsen Peak Slim Fit Gaiters

The Amundsen Peak Slim Fit Gaiters can be connected directly to the Amundsen Peak Knickerbockers or worn separately. Either way they provide protection from just below the knee to the top of the boot. Securely attached yet providing easy access to boot laces if needed. Wind, snow, and water proof to a high degree making them four-season gear. When you hear the name Amundsen you can't help but think of adventure. Amundsen Sports was started in 2010 by Jørgen Amundsen based on his family heritage. Full review

Kuiu Yukon Gaiters

Great quality ruined by a bad top strap design. If you are walking in any kind of slash where debris can hit the top strap I would not recommend. The straps are pinched down with a lever type holder which comes undone every 20 steps or so—major flaw major piss off for $150. Full review

INOV8 All Terrain Gaiter

The Inov-8 All Terrain Gaiter is an accessory that is designed to keep debris from entering footwear at the ankle. This product is ideal for hikers that are in an environment where dust, dirt, gravel, etc. easily gets into footwear. These gaiters function best with Inov-8 products that have proprietary hook pockets, but also can work universally with most low-top and mid-ankle footwear. Inov-8 products are rapidly catching on in the USA, and for good reason. With superior design being a necessity… Full review

Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodiles Gaiters

Excellent Gore-Tex membrane gaiters. Excellent gaiters, made with Gore-Tex membrane, which guarantees impermeability and breathability. Its only problem is that the cord that goes under the sole of the shoe is made of synthetic material and after a lot of use in rocks it is usually broken. I prefer those that have a stainless steel cable. Full review
