rated 5 of 5 stars I was lucky to be able to buy a pair of Pivetta 5s in 1978 at Paragon Sports in New York, on the basis of a review I'd read in Backpacker (now available online; search "Backpacker 1973 Pivetta Limmer"). They have fit my narrow size 8-1/2 feet perfectly, and my only regret is that I didn't get a second pair, now that they've been out of production for a long time. The intervening years, many comfortable hiking miles, and my own neglect have all proved the superiority of their design, workmanship,… Full review

Eiger Leather Hikers

rated 5 of 5 stars I purchased my PIVETTA EIGER boots in the early 1970s by mail order from the SKI HUT in Berkley, Cal. I learned of these boots from the book "The Complete Walker" by Colin Fletcher. I still have and wear these boots over 35 years later. They have been re-soled twice. Thru the years I also have owned Danners, Lowa, Garmont,… Full review

You did use them a lot on rescue, but other than that I think they were for "beer runs". Seriously you will never find a better boot. I have used on approach to Mt Shasta, North Pal, Thunderbolt, Darwin, etc. Does anyone know the best place to have them resoled with yellow Vibrams? I am looking for an artisan that… Full review

leather hikers

rated 5 of 5 stars I bought my Pivettas in 1976 and have worn them on too many hikes to recall. I've purchased new boots since but never could rid myself of these Pivettas. They feel and great as they look and have held up over the years. They are still my preferred knockabout shoes. I only wish I could find a pair today. Full review
