Meta Bottle + Microfilter

rated 4 of 5 stars A quick easy water filtration bottle. Scoop and drink treated water directly from the bottle or squeeze water through the filter into another vessel. When I first received the Platypus Meta bottle with Microfilter I thought it was just another filtered water bottle. Well, I was wrong, as it has become my go-to water treatment device for hiking and backpacking. Platypus took its already popular Meta soft bottle and added a removable micro-filter to the top that allows me to drink directly from… Full review

Hoser

rated 5 of 5 stars Bulletproof and lightweight way to keep hydrated on the go. I've had a 3L Hoser for about 3 years now. I'll start with the one drawback: It's tough to get much water in it from a non-flowing source of water, but this is easily solved by pouring water into it with some other container.  Filling it from a flowing stream is cake. Besides that, I have nothing but praise for it. Even the one drawback actually comes with two big positives:      1. The opening is small, but that means you don't have… Full review

Sprinter XT 35

rated 4 of 5 stars This is a great pack. Well-constructed, waterproof, comfortable (probably more comfortable for men), but it may not fit everyone’s hiking needs niche perfectly. I didn’t really like this pack to start. I had taken it on several day hikes and field work, but I couldn’t figure out its niche. It holds far more than I would take on a day trip, but not enough for my typical overnight. In an attempt to think about what other people would like to know and in reading reviews is when I really started… Full review

plusBottle

rated 3.5 of 5 stars I sometimes use the Platypus plusBottle as a flask. Great for extra water on day hikes or road trips, very compact, not bulky and has been useful on many overnight camping trips. Bottle did not burst when I hiked into higher elevation, (thank god) but it did expand. I currently own other Platypus products (Platypus Big Zip 2L & 3L bladder and I love it), so that's why I was more inclined to by the same brand's products. I initially bought this bottle for an extra supply of water. It kinda turned… Full review

Bite Valve Cover

rated 5 of 5 stars Keeps your bite valve clean and sanitary. Potentially prevents you from getting sick on the trail (as I did) when you're far from the trailhead. I was hiking the Northern Traverse in Glacier in September. On the fourth night, at Stoney Indian Lake, I became really sick with a bad case of gastroenteritis. When we arrived at camp, it started to get windy, cold, and wet. I and my two hiking partners set up camp, then walked over to the cooking area for dinner. Curiously, I had no appetite and had to… Full review
