La Sportiva gears up for ice season

La Sportiva N.A., makers of technical climbing, mountaineering, mountain running, and hiking footwear, announced its ice festival partnerships and mountain boot demo schedule for the upcoming winter ice season.

This year’s U.S. ice festival schedule kicks off in Bozeman, Montana, with the third annual Ice Breaker Pro-Invitational set for Thursday, December 10. The Bozeman Ice Festival (www.montanaalpineguides.com/bozemanicefestival) will continue through Sunday, December 13. La Sportiva will also be participating at the following ice festivals in 2009/10:

“In addition to offering ice climbing enthusiasts throughout North America the chance to demo the La Sportiva mountain boot line, we plan to support our ice festival partners with a host of athlete presentations, technique clinics, lectures, slide shows and training seminars,” says Laura Fryer, La Sportiva N.A.’s Marketing Manager.

In preparation for the upcoming ice season, La Sportiva’s partner, Mountain Athlete in Jackson, Wyoming has provided a series of training videos featuring Christian Santelices and Ben Gilmore to help you tune up for ice season. The videos will be presented on La Sportiva LIVE’s “Training Tips.”

La Sportiva LIVE is driven by athlete-generated content and showcases videos, photos, blogs, and news focused around the climbing and running communities. The latest video (below) features Mark Synnott’s winter ascent of Repentence at Cathedral Ledge in New Hampshire.

Other highlights for the upcoming season: La Sportiva athlete Dawn Glanc will be this year’s keynote speaker at the upcoming Sandstone Ice Festival just outside of Duluth, Minnesota.

In 2010, at North America’s most prestigious ice festival in Ouray, Colorado, La Sportiva’s Steve House will present a slide show titled, “Next to the Post Office,” on Friday night, January 8, from 8:30-10:30 p.m., at the Main Street Theater.
