Columbia Men's Diamond 890 TurboDown Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Warm, lightweight jacket that is great for both city and outdoor use. This is a great down jacket. A combination of warmth and breathability are what I look for because getting uncomfortably sweaty whilst hiking is never a good experience. The fit of the jacket is snug, but still able to accommodate extra layers underneath if they are needed. A good hood also compliments the fit, with it turning with your head without the need for cords.  As with most down jackets it is not great in the rain. Saying… Full review

Haglofs Barrier Pro II Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Lightweight and packable synthetic jacket that is warm for its weight. This jacket weighs just 323 grams (11.4oz). It is obviously not for very cold weather, but it is warm for its weight. On one occasion I was walking in a bitingly cold gale force wind. Where I live the temperature does not go below freezing even in winter, but with windchill taken into account it must have been close to freezing on that occasion. It was certainly cold enough to make me put on my gloves. Yet I felt neither the… Full review

Arc'teryx Men's Atom SL Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars Total agreement, guys. I bought the Carbon Copy color. I have the LT as well, also beloved. This extremely well thought out jacket is as light as a hummingbird's feather. The hood with toggle cord in the rear tightens down perfectly to shield your face with the lower face and throat lovingly protected as well by the full zip front. The tailored cuffs fit so well, great to have nothing to fasten there. The lightest weight insulation on the front and back is nearly imperceptible, but clearly does… Full review

Patagonia Men's DAS Parka

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Very warm and comfortable. This synthetic coat makes winter easier. Hood and closures aren't perfect. I bought this 2015 model coat to wear so I could stay warm in camp and trailhead without thinking too much about layering and moisture control in temps around and below freezing. I'd looked into a couple of down parkas but didn't go with them due to the price, and I'm glad I didn't. The DAS Parka is not perfect but it performs its main function of keeping me warm very well. A huge bonus I hadn't… Full review

Patagonia Men's Nano Puff Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars This is one great hoody! Good alone till mid 30's, or even colder for active use! I am a Patagonia gear nut, and this is one nice piece. Lightweight, warm, and my go-to winter coat in Ohio. When it's really cold out, I wear it over a Better Sweater coat. I love it, great for fall fly fishing trips! Full review

Icebreaker Men's MerinoLOFT Stratus Long Sleeve Zip Hood

rated 4 of 5 stars It's a technical hoodie. It's a wool jacket. It's a blend of both. Warm and comfy...but with a poorly designed hood. https://www.icebreaker.com/en/web-specials/merinoloft-stratus-long-sleeve-zip-hood/102976_WS.html?dwvar_102976__WS_color=002#BVRRWidgetIDWe never plan to get wet. But it happens.  In certain conditions getting wet can be deadly. A 34-degree cold winter rain has a way of chilling you to the bone. If we are counting on an insulating layer to keep us warm then it needs to work.  Even… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Thermostatic Hooded Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Thinking we would have another very cold New England winter, and really liking my packable vest, I thought I should purchase a packable jacket, to provide an extra layer of warmth under my anorak. Well, we have had only a few below zero days, but have had enough variable and cold days to determine that I really do like this jacket...both as an insulating layer, and as a stand-alone light and comfortable parka. I purchased this on sale at a great markdown, so color selection was a bit limited, though… Full review

REI Women's Revelcloud Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Great lightweight jacket for windy and chilly conditions. Packable and warm. I was in the market for a puffy type jacket and researched many options. I was leaning towards the Patagonia Nano Puff, but really didn't want to pay the higher price for the Patagonia. I came across the Revelcloud and it seemed to be pretty much the same jacket and was much less expensive. Since buying the jacket I have used it a lot. It makes a great outer layer over my fleece for cold and windy conditions. I have not… Full review

Patagonia Men's Nano Puff Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars This jacket is a solid micro puffy. The features are well designed. The Nano Puff Jacket used to be the standard for light micro puffy jackets. Now I think some other companies have caught up and exceeded this jacket. The Nano Puff Jacket is light, wind resistant, and warm enough to be a light belay jacket for rock climbing. It layers well. I wish the cut in the torso were more athletic. The size and shape of the pockets helps keep things inside.  Full review
