Asolo Powermatic 100

rated 4 of 5 stars Asolo is quality gear. These boots are great for heavy loads and for rocky ground. If you're looking for a durable boot with mountaineering capabilities, these might be a good option. Asolo makes great boots. I know several guys who've taken this brand as their brand of choice for a tour of duty over in the middle east, more than once. That says a lot about quality and durability. So I bought these Powermatics based on features and design. They are equipped with roller lace guides, so they tighten… Full review

Alico Guide

rated 5 of 5 stars If you are someone who needs his feet time to adjust...then go buy your North Face or some other Chinese made crap and move along. This boot company makes an old fashioned, truly bomb proof pair of footwear. From the hand-stitched soles to the absolute top quality leather, you cannot go wrong with these boots if you actually give them a shot! I live in the Northeast Kingdom part of Vermont. There is no place more trying (besides the White Mountains in New Hampshire) on a pair of new boots. If anyone… Full review

Vasque Men's Sundowner GTX

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Great leather, but the sole is pure garbage. I had a pair from 1999 until 2008. They were the best boots I ever owned, but (like all boots) eventually just wore out. I wear them every day, in every condition. I replaced my '99 models with the new model. They looked identical, but the new ones broke in MUCH faster (about two weeks instead of a month). At about the year mark the sole separated from the leather. I assumed this was due to how I treated them, but was upset as $200 boots should last longer… Full review

Lowa Men's Tibet GTX

rated 5 of 5 stars Best all leather boots I've ever owned! Due to a crush injury to my right lower leg I have an extremely hard time finding boots/shoes that help with the pain from crushed nerves. That being said! I found this pair of boots at a resale shop new in the box and unworn, for $25! They fit perfectly! The owner had received them as a gift and never tried them on.  I started wearing them everyday to my hunting lease, rain or shine. I've never had a pair of boots that compare! I mean, I've worn Rockys exclusively… Full review

Danner Mountain Light II

rated 3 of 5 stars Great boot for most people looking for a combination of a traditional and more modern hiking boot. It's a good boot, merging old and new concepts to create a comfortable and durable hiking and trekking boot. One piece of good leather to last possibly a lifetime and stitchdown construction that can be resoled. The kletterlift sole paired with the EVA midsole offers the best shock absorption I have experienced on any footwear except maximalist running shoes. Unfortunately, a heel counter issue (like… Full review

Asolo Women's TPS 520 GV

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great foot and ankle protection for multi-day trips with a heavier pack. Excellent performance off-trail. Brand confidence overall is positive for footwear in the middle-upper price range. Ah hiking boots. One of the most difficult backpacking necessities to purchase and review. Specifics: This review is for Asolo GV 520 LW size 10. These boots were purchased from REI. Weight: Ridiculous = 4.2lbs (pair) These are backpacking boots for multi-day trips and heavy packs, over the ankle, lace-up, full-grain… Full review

Garmont T8 NFS

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This backpacking boot does a fantastic job at keeping your ankles safe and your hiking speed up! I bought them new at a military surplus store for 60 dollars, and I'm definitely not disappointed. I would like to vouch strongly for their durable construction and sturdy foot support. They provide enough room to wiggle the toes, but plenty of squeeze to keep your foot stationary and secure.  I have spent several backpacking trips in these boots, hiking over 100 miles in them since the summer started. Scarpa Attack

rated 5 of 5 stars Best boots I've had. Used them all year round climbing in Scotland. Been used for over 15 years. Will be hard to find a good replacement. Full review

Altama Desert Mil Spec Combat Boot

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Sleek, flexible, lightweight heat-venting design beats most other hot weather boots out of the market. Oldie but a goodie. I was fortunate enough to snag a pair of unscuffed, odorless vintage Altama Hot Weather Jungle Boots today, second-hand for about $12 US. These babies are still selling secondhand for upwards of 40 dollars on the Internet. Happily, I intend to break them in if possible, as they cost barely more than some drop on a single pack of cigarettes. A good pair of boots can last for… Full review
