John Calden Boots Men's Mountain Hiking Boot

rated 5 of 5 stars These boots are great for on-trail or off-trail hiking. I hike in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado in and around Durango and Silverton. I have never found a satisfactory pair of store bought boots. The most common problems have been heel slippage and black/blue toes. A friend of mine suggested that I contact John Calden. He  works out of Estes Park, Colorado, which is a short drive from Denver. I made an appointment with John at his workshop. He took a very careful measurement of each… Full review

Herman Men's Survivor

Would be nice if first star was pile of sh*t so I could pick it. What a crock. Bought three pairs for me, son, and wife and I have to say when I was a teen you had one of the best boots around. So I buy three pairs telling my family what a great boot you have, but you make my words sh*t like I lied to them because mine lasted one day. I was gluing them back so my son didn't see they were trash, but got caught. I guess what I am trying to say is you made me a liar to my family. So here's a big F… Full review

Limmer Men's Mid-Weight

rated 5 of 5 stars Heavy duty, will eventually conform to your feet, may outlast the wearer. I have over 500 GPS miles on these boots, including the 110-mile Tour de Mont Blanc. When you are out in the middle of nowhere, you don't want your GoreTex booties to rip, or your glues to unbind, or whatever miracle material du jour letting go.   I am 61, and old school on many things. If you are going from your Lexus to spend a few hours on the trail all plugged in to your fitbit and iPhone...these are quite heavy, and… Full review

Herman Men's Survivor

rated 5 of 5 stars Still wearing these lightweight Herman 8" Survivor camo boots, for 3 years. Guess I'm the lucky one, soles still attached. Did an 8-mile trail hike yesterday, lightweight and keeps my feet warm but not real sweaty even at 8 F. Got em at WalMart as a closeout and am tempted to get another pair online if I can find my size. Full review

Red Wing Irish Setter

rated 5 of 5 stars I have used Irish Setter boots for most of my 53-year life as an avid big game hunter. I learned of Irish Setter in my early years from my Dad and Grandpa who strongly recommended them. In all those years we had only one problem. I contacted the company and they were exactly as my dad said.... a company you can rely on...Problem solved. When you have to trust in your pair of boots ... you should never have to think about them. With these boots I am extremely familiar. I have purchased dozens over… Full review

Zamberlan Men's 308 Trekker RR

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Good boot overall. I would like to preface this review by stating that the quality of the boot manufacturing is great. The leather is thick and supportive, but softens where it needs to flex. I got these boots off steepandcheap.com for $150 USD. Break-in was not bad at all. I think I could have gone hiking in them right off the bat without much issue. There was a slight hot spot on my heels at first, but that very quickly resolved.  I think that my main complaints are too much of an issue with… Full review

Raichle Montagna

rated 5 of 5 stars These boots have a superior design and are made from superior materials with superior craftsmanship resulting in a superior product as evidenced by this product's durability! I used my pair every day (rugged use) for 15 years before they needed to be resoled! I used them on all my climbing adventures on rock and ice, they made many ascents up, down, and around Rainier over the years.  The went through countless streams on hiking, fishing, hunting, and rafting trips. I jammed them in cracks  all… Full review

Scarpa Men's Escape GTX

rated 4 of 5 stars I have found these boots to VERY durable in comparison to other backpacking/light mountaineering boots. They took about six months to break in, longer than others of its type. But I've worn them almost 150 days per year for about 7 years, and finally need to resole them. Summitted Rainier in a single push and the aid of some toe warmers in these boots. I've also used them for technical ice climbing in which they worked better than expected for a leather boot with semi rigid sole. They stay warm… Full review

Alico Summit

rated 5 of 5 stars Strong, reliable, durable, comfortable backpacking boot. Finally, a dependable full leather boot that can be re-soled for "lifetime" use. Interior glove leather cradles the foot and ankle. Footbed needs a Superfeet (black) upgrade, but still works. The Italian Alico brand boots are imported by Sierra Trading Post, and sold through their website and storefronts. Handmade in the Dolomites, by craftsmen. The Summits are pretty stiff straight out of the box, but all good boots are. They break in fast… Full review
