Vasque Sundowner GTX

rated 5 of 5 stars This classic Vasque Sundowner boot was the best bang for the buck. It had excellent reviews and is an issue to most of our Park Rangers for use throughout the year. These boots amazingly, felt almost broken in when first laced on my feet. They are a no seam leather ankle high and can be worn comfortably as shoes around town or hiking in the Everglades or climbing Up Pikes Peak. Sand, dirt, H2O cannot detract from the steady comfort and support these classics provide. Unless you are a fanatic with… Full review

Vasque Men's Sundowner GTX

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great looking boot that performs well: this boot will do just about everything and do it well. I've owned the Vasque Sundowners before, and loved them, but as I was preparing for a trek through northeast New Mexico (Philmont Scout Ranch, for those that know it), I learned that Vasque now had their boots made in China, and a great many reviewers had concerns about the quality. However, I did my homework, and there just isn't any other waterproof breathable boot available for this price, so I paid… Full review

Asolo Men's TPS 520 GV

rated 5 of 5 stars Moderate to heavy backpacking, summer to early winter boot. Great ankle support, Gore tex lining. I would recommended for people with med to wide feet, sizes run true. Bought my first pair for a hike thru the Smokey Mountain National Park on the AT. They take awhile to break in due to the heavy leather uppers but form to your foot like a protective glove once they are broken in. I fitted mine with Superfeet custom foot beds to compensate for my high arch. The Goretex lining work superbly. Only way… Full review

Merrell Women's Crestbound Gore-Tex

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Use this boot for hiking the Adirondack region. I used this boot for the first time doing two ADK high peaks in a day. 12 miles round trip. The trail was very muddy and wet, there were also several places you had to scramble a bit. I was very impressed, my feet stayed dry and blister free! I was concerned that I didn't "break them in." It wasn't necessary! They also look nice. One of my only complaints is I did have to remove them twice to get some debris out. Nothing some gaiters won't fix. The… Full review

Lowa Men's Tibet Pro GTX

rated 5 of 5 stars Very comfortable boot no matter where or on what I hike/backpack. I like to bushwack and these allow that anywhere. Beautiful quality, but heavy and limited to temps above about 40 deg F for my feet when I stop moving. Lowa will resole including new rand for $85, so take care of the leather. I paid $165 new. If they were lighter they'd be nearly perfect for an uninsulated boot. Fit is nearly ideal for my foot shape. Put multiple loops before and after the ankle lace loops to keep your heel in place. The North Face Men's Dhaulagiri II GTX

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Not bad at all. In fact I was pretty impressed. I bought these boots literally a couple of days before doing the Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp trek. No time to break them in. Almost three solid weeks of very tough trekking. Not a single blister. Not a single problem. Admittedly I avoided getting them soaking wet, but went through a lot of snow without issue. Full review

Vasque Men's Sundowner

rated 3 of 5 stars They are wonderful, comfortable boots that fall apart *very quickly.* I like the way these boots fit, particularly with an innersole. However, the sole came completely detached as I was climbing last weekend. The boots were two years old, but didn't have that many miles on them. I was not happy. Customer service seemed glib and uncaring when I called them. My *former * pair of Sundowners lasted for many years, by the way. Full review

Herman Men's Survivor

rated 0.5 of 5 stars I bought a pair of Herman steel toe work boots from Walmart. Pure junk. Save your money. Buy a better boot. These boots are only four months old. Walmart was very rude about trying to return the boots saying I had them longer. The threads on the seams dry rotted, torn, the boot dye came out after getting wet. Walmart usually returns and honors everything. Pretty sad they would not these boots!!! Save your money. Don't buy boots from Walmart. Herman boots are pure junk. Full review

Lundhags Syncro High

rated 5 of 5 stars Legendary. It is hard to write a review on boots that you cannot find any real faults with.  My dad bought a pair 15 years ago. Almost every day he walks/run in the mountains in Lofoten for 10 to 15 miles. It is boot torture.  They still work. Their durability is legendary, and most people have these for life.  I got mine a year ago and I have used them on every hike since (around 20 to 30 miles a week). I just love them. But...these boots fit my feet. You have to try them on. These are rugged… Full review
