Downlight StormDown Vest

rated 4 of 5 stars A good 800 fill goose down vest with DriDown DWR treatment. I first bought an Eddie Bauer First Ascent light down jacket five years ago and have been very happy with it. I've used it for hunting, skiing (a lot), and winter backcountry hiking as well as around town (see my avatar). I decided I needed a vest that would be warmer than my 300 weight fleece vest so I bought the EB First Ascent mainly because I wanted DWR on all my down garments going forward and I trust First Ascent quality. This vest… Full review

Mountain Pants

rated 4 of 5 stars Comfortable, a little heavy, and durable well designed pants. It's a little weird to review a pair of pants. I mean, each brand and style of pants fits a little different and offers different feel and features. I typically wear a lightweight guide pant like the Kuhl Revolvr, but those pants haven't held up well in the seams in the bottom of the crotch (right where everything comes together). So I went out searching for pants with some similar design elements but which were a little more durable… Full review

EBTEK Gore-Tex Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Wish Eddie Bauer still used Gore Tex. I've had two Eddie Bauer down Gore-Tex jackets/coats. Wish Eddie Bauer still used Gore-Tex. I've had two Eddie Bauer down Gore-Tex jackets/coats from the 1980s and around 2005. One of the best investments I've ever made. Michigan winters can and are brutal. I'm cozy warm in my EB Gore-Tex even while wearing just a T-shirt underneath. I don't know how their "Weather Edge" compares. I had to buy a new Gore-Tex down coat from Cabela's last year because my EB's… Full review

Neoteric Shell Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars This is an outstanding hardshell jacket with many pockets and technical features that I have not found in any other jacket in my long search in other jackets. It has lots of pockets, adjustable hood, RECCO detection built in I have used the jacket for skiing, snowboarding, backpacking, hiking and just around town in a variety of conditions. It is my go-to outerwear piece in the cold or rain. Plenty of venting and also breathable if it warms up, very very waterproof. Wow, this is an amazing high… Full review

MicroTherm StormDown Jacket

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Was a little disappointed with this jacket. Enjoying a beverage in the Eddie Bauer Microtherm. Which is a bummer because I was really looking forward to this article of clothing. I have had it for two months and have taken it on some pretty good backpacking trips that ranged anywhere from 1-5 days. The temps I have had it in ranged from 4 degrees F to 55 degrees F and I have layered with it and used it solo. It has literally fulfilled every role. The fit on this jacket is spot on for someone of… Full review
