0*vintage down sleeping bag/quilt convertible

rated 4.5 of 5 stars An nice example of an old expedition bag from the Seattle Outfitter. The bag has some very unique and useful features to give it great versatility. I think when this bag came out (I don't know the date or the make) it was an expensive addition to the gear locker. It has some features that I've seen before but never together in one bag. Warmth: The bag is very warm. I've used in a range of weather from -20*F (-29*C) to 60*F (16*C).  Anything below 0*, I have to double this bag up with another. This… Full review

First Ascent Downlight Sweater

rated 5 of 5 stars The Eddie Bauer First Ascent Downlight Sweater Jacket is fantastic. It's warm and compressible with 800-fill down. It fits well and looks great. After trying multiple light down jackets, this jacket was the clear winner in terms of design, fit and looks.  DESIGN The 800-fill down makes the jacket extremely warm and compresses down to the size of a softball. The shell fabric has a DWR finish making it highly wind and water resistant The jacket can be stuffed into its own pocket Fleece lined pockets… Full review

Karakoram 0 StormDown

rated 3 of 5 stars Great deal on a 55% off sale, but two problems made me send it back. I just got this bag and will be returning it to EB.  As listed above it needs either more fill or smaller tubes to prevent the down from shifting during use and thus creating convective heat loss. Additionally the loose fill means more space to heat. The main gripe is a very poorly designed and located neck collar.  To wit: located at my mid sternum (I'm 5' 10"), not at my neck and shoulder area.  no Velcro closure at the zipper… Full review

First Ascent Belay Knife

rated 3.5 of 5 stars I like this knife, but the blade rattles (moves back and forth) when open quite a bit which is a large drawback for me. Full review

Propellant Jacket

rated 3 of 5 stars Very comfortable, lightly insulated, stretchy, wind and water resistant soft shell. Poor quality control! Great idea, this jacket could be awesome but...questionable execution. My hood elastic cinch pulled loose from the end the first time I pulled it, unthreading all the way out. Hmmm return or ??? I reluctantly rethreaded and sewed it back. The hem elastic cinch has no cord locks. I had to add them. Zippers were very sticky. I lubed them and they were better, but come on! This is an expensive… Full review
