EX Light Down Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great for summer backpacking in Sierras, Rockies, Cascades. Works well as lightweight warmth on backcountry ski days. I have primarily used the jacket on backpacking trips — on chilly nights in the summer above 10,000 ft. and most every night in late September to October above 10,000 ft. So lightweight and compactable, hardly know it is in the pack. Far better than carrying a heavier down jacket, vest, heavy polypro. Oh, and it was plenty warm too. I have spent many a night at 15 - 20 degrees… Full review

Alpine Cruiser 2000

rated 5 of 5 stars Exceptionally light and fast alpine boots. The Japanese know a lot about snow, and it shows in these boots. These are technical mixed-climbing boots. You could wear them almost anywhere. These are beautiful boots resulting from a complete chance purchase. We had a family holiday booked and paid to the snow — but there was almost no snow. Anticipating a week of snow / slush / bush-walking in lieu I made a last minute decision to invest in a good pair of boots. I walked into the Mont-bell Australian… Full review

Plasma 1000 Down Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Extremely lightweight down jacket that's warm with a few compromises. Brent provided a great in-depth review. I thought I'd add a second opinion. I had been eyeballing this jacket for not only casual use, but also for backpacking. As it's my first and only down jacket, I went for ultra-lightweight for backpacking. I asked for it for Christmas and Santa was good to me. I'm 5'10"/160 lbs and purchased a large version directly from Montbell. Weight was one of my most important factors and this was… Full review

Superior Down Parka

rated 5 of 5 stars Montbell's updated version of its U.L. Down Inner Parka, the Superior Down Parka, is an unbelievably warm ultralight down hoody. The Superior Down Parka is very affordable and it keeps you shockingly warm for its sub-eight ounce weight. This down hoody is plenty warm enough to be a stand alone jacket to 35 degrees, but can be a really warm mid-layer in colder weather when paired with the appropriate outer shell. It is a great three-season jacket that I am sure you will see tons of thru-hikers carrying… Full review

Plasma 1000 Down Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Extremely lightweight jacket for ultralight backpackers. I should start by saying that the Montbell Plasma 1000 is a new jacket for me. I purchased it a few weeks ago for ultra lightweight warmth while backpacking through New England this fall. In the brief while that I have owned it, I have been able to take it out a few times and get some initial impressions. Fit:  The Plasma is a fairly slim fit jacket, as much as down can be "slim fit". It still looks puffy, but doesn't feel baggy at all. Overall,… Full review
