Merrell Named 2007 Outdoor Footwear Brand of the Year

In recognition of its steady success and first class customer service, Footwear Plus named Merrell the 2007 Outdoor Brand of the Year for the fifth consecutive year. Thousands of retailers vote on the design excellence of outdoor footwear brands. The awards were presented on February 1st during the first day of the World Shoe Association trade show in Las Vegas, the largest footwear trade show in the U.S.

“It is an honor to be recognized as the outdoor brand of the year for five consecutive years,” said Keith Anderson, director of marketing for Merrell. “Not only does this speak to Merrell’s credibility as a leading outdoor performance footwear brand, but also, it emphasizes consumers’ appreciation of our growing line of on-trend products that deliver comfort and style.”

“For the fifth straight year, Merrell has won the Plus Award for design excellence in the outdoor category,” said Greg Dutter, editorial director of Footwear Plus. “Retailers recognize the brand’s ability to deliver trend-setting designs coupled with ground-breaking performance features on a consistent basis. Merrell is at the forefront of the increasingly popular outdoor category, which has evolved into multi-purpose, go-anywhere types of shoes where function and fashion are equally important design components.”

The eighth annual Plus Awards are presented by Footwear Plus, the industry’s leading business-to-business magazine, and sponsored by Gore-Tex Footwear and OrthoLite Comfort Insoles.
