My wife will be a little too pregnant for our backpacking trips this summer but she still wants to get out at some point for some camping. Looking for a recommendation on a NON-RV campground tentsite that we can drive into for a little R&R in the daks or maybe around Lake George NY. Any thoughts?

If you list your e-mail, I would pass on a few ideas. There are many possibilities, are you looking for anywhere in the Adirondacks?

In the High Peaks area the Adirondack Loj is a good choice (www.adk.org). Drive up campsites but not too tightly spaced. Also, indoor showers & potties within wlaking distance which your wife may appreciate. Lots of hike options too.

You could check out the on-line reservation system for New York State Parks and Campgrounds. It's at www.reserveamerica.com. The state has some great campgrounds. Among my favorites are Nick's Lake, Lake Harris and Alger Island. Reservations are highly recommended on the weekends. In the Lake George area I would not recommend Hearthstone. Lake Moreau and Lake Luzurne aren't too bad though.
