Thanks for a very interesting video Gary. This is much better than the selfie videos we have seen before.  The CDT is ill defined compared to the two coastal trails. There is much more navigation involved. I really enjoyed living in the Rockies in CO and WY but it is the land of extremes.  Lots of snow, cold temperatures and high elevations. It is easier for younger people.  Or like the old adage,  "It is a good country for men and dogs, but Hell on women and horses. "

The video shows the tremendous variety of habitats even on the Divide.  Lots of recent fire scars.  Most people have this idea that the Rocky Mtns are all in forest with waterfalls and really wet country. This video shows that this is really a fantasized version of reality.

This is a great topic actually.  I am amazed at all the people that love to talk about the AT and PCT but would never consider the CDT because of its remoteness and poor signage.  It is not a superhighway of humans. That is what makes it so attractive.  It is the new PCT.
