with colorado experiencing a major blizzard, a 69 year old hiker decided to scale a steep trail without adequate gear or clothing.  the hiker is fine; it took 18 search and rescue workers to coordinate his safe exit.  

other hikers with proper gear successfully completed the same hike. said the weather cuts down on traffic and that the views are great.  proper gear, in this case, meant at least microspikes and good protection against cold, wind, snow.  

when in doubt, be safe.

Don't put 18 S&R people at risk by doing something stupid.  

Pray for the bovines on the Northern Plains, especially the baby calves.
