I will be heading up happy isle trailhead to glaceir point, and half dome how are the hikes? I am getting a lot of differnt stories about the bears how bad is it? any help in these areas would help. Be honest please thank you andrew

Agree - Yosemite bears are not like wild bears - just don't let them get at your food. They're more like Yogi and BooBoo

As for the trails - they are killer - as in Bad and I don't mean good. Half dome is a bitch - I think its 11 miles up and 11 miles down and 6,000 feet up and 6,000 feet down. Do not carry a heavy pack - I've seen really tough guys break down under the weight of cameras and too much gear. Oh yeh - theres lots of water until you leave Little Yosemite valley, but filter it, and getting reservations is a must and not easy - find out in advance - We had to wait in a line early in the mornng before we could start hiking.
