I see, in Steck, the same spirit which possesses Alex Honnold...a wonderful combination of drive, ability, and individuality. Truly awesome, in the traditional sense of the word.

Climbing, and mountaineering in general, is in very good hands. The majority of climbers right now are engaging, personable people which is only going to grow the sport for future generations. Between the two mentioned by Pillow as well as others like Tommy Caldwell, Will Gadd, Cedar Wright and the many strong females involved like Mellisa Arnott and Hazel Findlay. I've had the chance to meet many through Alpine club meetings, film festivals and sponsored presentations. Of course, there wouldn't be a Ueli Steck without a Pete Whittaker or Ed Viesturs.
