White's Centennial Hiker and the Vibram Portland sole

Anyone seen, worn, or owned a pair of these boots?  From the photos, they remind me of Limmers.  I'm curious and have added them to a short list of considerations for my next hiking boots.  Thinking longterm, I like that they are also fully rebuildable under the White's MO.

I'm also wondering about the Vibram Portland sole.  Do they work as well, or worse than, the traditional lug sole?  Hold mud?  Get slick since they seem to have more flat surface area than the old lugs?  Long-wearing and durable?

Any feedback is appreciated.
