All wet! Hiking out of the Cranberry Wilderness in Monongahela NF, WV on the North South Trail, freezing rain at about 4300'. Not a human soul out here other than me and my trail pal Jank...

Nice light and colors, Sean!

I hope the freezing rain wasn't too bad.

What's with the cairn in the middle of the trail?

This cairn has been here for years, although completely unnecessary... It is the junction between TR 688 North South Trail, and TR 272 North Fork Trail in eastern Cranberry Wilderness.

Below is the fs.usda.gov map of this fun, WILD area!

I highly recommend putting this area on the radar, route finding makes this a challenging area to romp around!

I have only been there once in the 90s but it's on my list to go back to...after the Dolly Sods.  Been to the area many times with the family but no overnights.

Glad you had a good time...nothing like solitude on a trip.
