I know none of the 4,000 footers in the White Mountains are easy but which one do you guys think is the easiest of the 48?

Well, I’ve only hiked 7 so all I can tell you is which of those I found easiest. Strangely enough, it’s a tie between #48 Mt Tecumseh and #4 Mt Monroe.

We hiked Monroe last September via the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail (from the AR trailhead, not the cog railway trailhead), so it was a mile longer at 3.5 miles each way, but except for a few steep spots it barely had me breathing hard. I did hike it after about 3 months of intense training, though. The descent is very treacherous in the rain.

Tecumseh was done last November, with a little snow on the ground. We wore spikes for maybe 2 miles of the 2.5 mile climb, there was maybe 4” of snow on the summit.
