For three days last week a roommate and I went backpacking to 7 Falls near Tucson AZ. BTW I am back in the Old Pueblo for another winter.

Anyway I went wading and swimming in one of the natural pools in the 7 Falls area. Water was cold maybe 40 degree's? Air temp 85. Was very refreshing and I went in five times on Thursday.

This is what the desert and distant Tucson looked like at 730 am Thursday morning on our way to the falls, looking down Bear Canyon that was in shade all the way to its mouth.

I moved to southern California a long time ago.  I can remember swimming in some of the little water impoundments along the Ortega Highway in the winter.  It seemed like cheating.  That was about 1974.

Not having the seasonal changes was disorienting.  I left.  Now I relish the first fire in the stove and wearing a sweater and the first signs of spring.
