The Arrakis 65 is the new Arc'teryx pack for 2009. I have eyed this pack for the past 2 months and finally got mine today. This pack is absolutely incredible.
I have been using a Naos 70 for the past 2 years and thought that Arc'Teryx couldn't ever make a better pack. Well they did! Arc'teryx must have taken feedback on the changes that people would love to change and they did, plus more.
I used it this afternoon and went on a small hike and it was awesome. The pack fits just like my Naos, but a little smaller. The suspension is still the unreal AC2 suspension. The pack can be accessed by the side without opening the top lid. The pack is a rollotop in which I love.
I took my Naos and took the lid off anyways so I could save weight and Use it like a rolltop anyways. Well I can access it now with the Arrakis without open it up. It has so many pockets and I don't think people realize but there is a side pocket on the left that will fit tent poles. This allows for 1. The poles not being the pack itself so you can compress it better and also You don't have to attach them to the side of the pack. The back panel straps can hold my Z-Lite Thermarest without having it flop around.
The biggest thing is that the pack is made from the great material that my Naos is made of. I am leaving next week for Trail Days in Va and I can't wait to get miles on it. Hikers that will see it will want one. This pack is worth every penny!!!!!
