Browning Camping Basecamp 0

photo: Browning Camping Basecamp 0 3-season synthetic sleeping bag

While not easy to find, the Browning Basecamp 0 degree bag is roomy, comfortable, warm, and relatively lightweight for the cost. Unfortunately getting hard to find.

Pros

  • Warm
  • Packs small for its rating

Cons

  • Could use an inch or two more in the shoulder area
  • Hard to come by, discontinued

This bag has met or exceeded my expectations on every outing. Comfortable, relatively lightweight, and warm, the Browning Basecamp 0 degree mummy bag packs down relatively small.

I've used this bag for the last two years when the weather warrants, sleeping warm down to about -10° with a good pad and blanket. I'm 6'3" and 260 lbs. and the bag fits me well, although I could use another inch or two in the shoulder area.

This bag is getting harder to find, but if I were to come across another I would grab it up to pass it on to a Scout in need.

Experience

As a lifelong Scout and Scoutmaster, I have tried many combinations of gear, and been witness to many other's setups. This bag has been in my weather-dependent rotation for approximately two years.
