Chaos Summit Pack-it Hat
Historic Range: $12.73-$33.99
Great lightweight, packable sun hat for the beach, hiking, or backpacking. Good breathability and sweatband.
- UPF 40 sun protection
- Good sweatband
- Not waterproof
- Small brim doesn't work well in the rain.
This has been a good hat for sunny days at home, on the beach or on the trail. The fit of the large size hat worked great for me, not too loose or tight, just right. It crushes down to a small package, so you can shove it in a pocket and take it anywhere and it doesn't become all wrinkled after being unpacked.
Great as a travel hat to sunny climates but not so great in the rain as the brim isn't wide or stiff enough. I liked it a lot while backpacking because the brim never hit my pack as some other hats do, though the brim can be a little floppy.
The hat breathes well and has a really good sweatband. The bottom of the brim has dark fabric which helps hold down the sun's glare from reflecting up into your eyes. I love the Velcro pocket provided inside the top of the hat, it's a great place to store a couple of $20 bills for emergencies. It has a removable chin strap which comes in very handy during windy weather, nothing is worse than chasing after a hat on a windy day.
The hat washes up quite well and the Polyester fabric doesn't seem to retain stains. I have been wearing the hat for about 4 months and it still looks like new.
