Chlorophylle Hi Tech Attitude Jacket

For those haven't heard of the Chlorophylle brand, this is a Canadian brand based in Quebec that makes pricey outdoor apparel. Let me start the review of the Attitude jacket. This is basically a clone of the Arc'Teryx Alpha SV/Theta AR jacket. It is so much of a clone that the shape of the jacket, waterproof zippers, hood of the jacket, are all copied. They even added the same vibrant colours found on the Arc'Teryx jackets.

But how good is this jacket??? This jacket weighs like a brick compared to the Arc'Teryx Alpha/Theta jackets. As for breathability, it is a shame they would make a jacket that would breathe like a pair of rubber boots. The fabric used on this jacket, believe or not, is not Gore-Tex, but an in-house creation called CHS 3L. CHS 3L, in my opinion, is quite water and wind resistant, but you have to pay for the lack of breathability. The water repellency of this jacket after about a dozen hard rain/snow showers will make this jacket quickly lose its el cheapo DWR coating. This jacket has pretty good durability - aka abrasion resistant because of the heavyweight nature of the jacket but BAD BREATHABILITY, however there are pit zips. The hood on this jacket is way too small and don't even think about using it with a helmut unless you want to cause injury to yourself.

Do I recommend this jacket with a funny name? No, I had to return mine after I found this jacket had terrible breathability problems. Ironically, this label is extremely hard to find unless you live in Quebec and have prices that match Arc'Teryx which is sad. So, I have to conclude that this Chlorophylle products are a rip-off unless you find it 75% or more off its retail price, then snap it up if you don't mind breathability problems. Last but not least, unless you are retarded, then buy this jacket. ARC'TERYX IS THE WAY TO GO! However, I wish Arc'Teryx would improve their durability with their lightweight Gore-Tex areas of their jackets - On all of their Gore-Tex jackets to better resist abrasions and scrapes.
