Coleman Manitou 360

rated 2.5 of 5 stars

The Manitou 360 has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best three-season tents for 2024.

I've just read the other review of this tent by John Groat - and don't think it's entirely fair.

I brought this end after months of deliberation and not being able to find a fairly light 2 man tent which could realistically store backpacks for 2 people. It has a porch which, although is not massive, actually allows storage (unlike say, the Stormshield Xenon which although claims storage space in the porch, does not actually provide it as the inner slant of the flysheet when closed is a such a angle that nothing fits). Inner dimensions are also very good for two people.

Putting the tent up is a little tricky the first time - one puts up the flysheet first and then hangs the inner tent inside afterwards and pegs in the ground sheet. (Advantage - can put this up in the rain without getting the inner tent wet) The poles do not go into the eyelets easily, but will with a little pursuasion - and after pegging in the guy lines, this thing is solid.

I've discovered also that the whole thing can also be taken apart without unhanging the inner tent - so next time you put it up just slide in the poles and then peg the groundsheet in - it's done. Timing myself to do this took 4mins 30secs.

Overall I think this is a great tent for the money - Coleman quality, fairly light, solid and roomy all for £80.

One other thing - I've heard that bears always come in through the front door - this tent also a an excape exit at the rear for bailing out at 3 a.m. if a beast comes knocking, or the Blair Witch for that matter.

I agree with Simon. The tent is fine, the poles are a bit of a squeeze to get them into the metal rings, but the result is the outer-tent is taut and avoids sagging completely. The inner tent fits in nicely as Simon described and the tent is very warm compared other tents I have used.

I do not see myself as an experienced camper but this tent seems to do the job and despite other reviews I found it easy enough to erect. Only reason I missed off a star is it was sold to me as a 2-3 person tent and there really isn't enough room for 3 people, nice for 2 though :)

Entirely agree with John Groat's review. Bought this at Millets. The poles certainly were difficult to slide through their sleeves and completely IMPOSSIBLE to locate the tip into the correct hole. I managed not to snap a pole however but myself and 2 others (all experienced campers) admitted defeat and, like John, I took it back for a refund. My advice too is - stay away, it's totally impossible. I'd love to see someone from Coleman manage it! I'm not sure how the other reviewer has managed it but good luck to him.

Had this tent on sale at a Milletts Store. Seemed very good at first even though a little on the heavy side.

On erecting it first time, the poles were very difficult to slide through their sleeves and even more difficult to locate the tips in to the holes, so much so that the pole snapped.

Took it back and had a refund. My advice - stay away from these as the poles are useless.
