Columbia Mt. Bachelor II
The Mt. Bachelor II has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best three-season tents for 2024.
This is an excellent small family tent. The construction is very strong and flexible. My first concern was the strength of the first-up mechanism. A simple test (smash the top of the tent to the floor while tugging and jerking on various poles) in the store put my concerns to rest.
Then the fabric strength test, my 2-year-old ravaging around, pulling on, hanging from, smashing into the entire tent.
Then the ease of setup: gone are the days of dreading the arrival and departure of a camp site because of the insanely complicated task of assembling and disassembling the tent.
The only drawback about this tent is the weight, it seems a little heavy to me. This is not a problem for car camping but rules it out for backpacking.
