photo: CRKT Micro Tool and Key Chain Sharpener multi-tool

This keychain tool is a decent tool. It’s great to have an extra field sharpener around.

Pros

  • Sharpener works great.
  • Seatbelt cutter is sharp.
  • Nice and compact

Cons

  • Cannot access bottle opener with tool attatched to keys.
  • Strap cutter cover falls off.
  • Strap cutter gets caught on things.

This is a good extra tool to take with you on the trail. I mainly got it to have an extra field sharpener, and I carry it on my keys when I’m camping/hiking/backpacking. The sharpener works well to put a decent edge on a blade. And the strap cutter works great to cut cordage and such.

The strap cutter comes extremely sharp and is very efficient. The strap cutters cover tended to fall off, and at some point in time during the last six months that I’ve owned this tool, I lost it for good. With that said, since I lost the cover, the strap cutter gets caught on things. I now avoid putting my keys in my bag with this tool attatched because I don’t want to tear up the bag in any way.

The bottle opener is not accessible if this tool is attatched to your keys. That’s a design flaw I found.

This tool is all right. There are definitely better options out there though.
