Comfortable boot for person with high arches.
- Ankle support
- Good fit
- Solid footbed
- Dye bleeds from new boots
These boots have been comfortable and appear to be durable after a few months of use on rough, rocky trails. Break-in time was minimal as these were reasonably soft right out of the box. I am not a hard core hiker but when I do hit the trails the terrain will generally be very rocky. I have experienced a bit more tendency for pressure on the ball of my foot than some boots but no blisters. New insoles might be in order to address this although the OEM insoles are not bad.
I am still undecided about the lacing system whether the eye rollers are useful or not. These boots are a bit difficult to custom lace for specific conditions and the top eye hooks are a bit close together despite the height of these boots being a bit more than others I have owned. The rollers do make tightening and loosening on the trail a quick bit of work, but not sure if the adjustments really hold. The rollers should extend lace life, though.
The biggest criticism is fact that the dye in the ankle leather bleeds from sweat the first few wearings. This changes the color of your sock to mahogany brown. Not a big deal, just a minor annoyance.
